Your final "stay safe" (it's a horrible saying) just about sums up non-Blackmore Purple. Comparing this album favourably to In Rock or Fireball – or any of those Blackmore efforts – baffles me.

Without Ritchie, it just ain't Purple.

Got my copy today, gonna put it on in the car as Deep Purple has always been driving music. one thing though, do you think that the album sleeve has Pink Floyd look and design about it if you covered the DP name ?

This band has no right to be creating music of this calibre and energy at this stage in their career. Unlike contemporise such as Yes, Jethro Tull and Robin Trower who are producing 'lite' versions of themselves Deep Purple are still pushing the envelope. However great respect to those aforementioned artists who release new material and don't rely on trading on past glories with ridiculously high ticket prices (hello The Eagles). Just heard a podcast with Roger Glover who subtly gave the impression that he would have liked the band to stretch out a bit more in this album to which i concur especially as Ian Gillan has stated in the past the band are essentially an instrumental outfit. Aside this mini gripe it is a superb addition to this band's catalogue.

I've grown up with the Purps and they never sease to have something fresh to say to me, another one for my collection, looking forward to picking my copy up and getting back on the (painted?) horse…

I’m extremely happy to learn that this magnificent band, in every iteration, has brought out yet another banger. They really deserve to be in or on the Mt Rushmore of hard rock greats – together with Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Uriah Heep. Making the world a better place 🙂

Awful album. Second worst album of their career (after that album of covers from a few years ago). Oh, they sound fine. They can still play, but there isn't a single interesting song here. Nothing I'd ever care to hear again. And one thing Purple never was, was boring. Until now.

After the first listen, I must say that as unpopular as my opinion may be, I don’t care for it. =1 for me is better. That’s not to say that the musicality and even Gillian’s voice isn’t good, it’s just that nothing other than maybe three tracks, grabs me. Arrogant Boy is great.

Richie's wife is indeed quite lovely. I wonder what she saw in the millionaire rock star Ritchie Blackmore. But never mind that – I am very much looking forward to getting this in the post!

I prefer their early stuff. In rock, Fireball, machine head, burn, stormbringer, come taste the band and made in Japan. That’s all I want and need from DP. Cheers.
