ABOUT OASIS
Oasis, the legendary British rock band formed in Manchester in 1991, rose to global fame as the spearhead of the Britpop movement. Fronted by brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, the group became known for their anthemic sound, raw attitude, and volatile sibling rivalry.
Their debut album, Definitely Maybe (1994), was an instant classic, becoming the fastest-selling debut in UK history at the time. It featured iconic tracks like “Live Forever” and “Supersonic.” The follow-up, (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? (1995), propelled Oasis to international superstardom with hits like “Wonderwall,” “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” and “Champagne Supernova.”
By 1997, Oasis released Be Here Now, a highly anticipated album that broke sales records despite mixed critical reviews. Their later albums, including Standing on the Shoulder of Giants (2000), Heathen Chemistry (2002), Don’t Believe the Truth (2005), and Dig Out Your Soul (2008), showcased a shifting sound and lineup, but the Gallaghers remained the core.
Internal tensions, particularly between Liam and Noel, led to Oasis disbanding in August 2009 after a backstage fight in Paris. Despite constant reunion rumors, the Gallagher brothers have since pursued successful solo careers.
Oasis remains one of the best-selling bands of all time, with over 75 million records sold. Their legacy endures through their timeless music, cultural impact, and influence on countless rock and indie artists.

11:13 I was an oasis fan originally and I never really listened to blur so I always just assumed that blur was alright and oasis was better. Then I started listening to blur and I wondered how it was ever even a competition because blur is so much better of a band.

To me Standing in the Shoulder of Giants is their best if we don’t count their first two, but I also think the Strokes album compared to it Angles is their best overall lol so I guess I like “experimentation”

To quote Noel directly, Be Here Now is the sound of a bunch of guys on Coke in the studio not giving a fuck. The only way to listen is blasting in on the radio not giving a fuck. And I love it!

I think Oasis sounds closer to the Stone Roses or the Sex Pistols than to the Beatles. Obvs they're influenced by the Beatles, everybody is when you play pop or rock, but I think the influence and the similarities are overblown and exaggerated, probably by the Gallaghers themselves.

39:00 Funny you suggest Liam sounding good over rave while missing that Noel did two collab tracks with The Chemical Brothers, which were both awesome. "Setting Sun" still has to be the fucking heaviest and most abrasive #1 single in British history. You should really do an episode on The Chemical Brothers, by the way.

I fucking ADORE Be Here Now, it is quite literally the best Oasis album in my opinion. It may not have a lot of hits and it may be a bit long but to me its perfect! Especially due to the fact that All Around the World is like 10 minutes! I think it needs to be longer! Be Here Now is not fatiguing, its beautiful.

Oasis to me are one of the most hilarious things in the world, because they just suck. As a band, they're masters in the craft of making shit music. All the supposed positive attributes of their music are just ridiculous; like, the albums are "loud"? You know that we have volume knobs on our sound equipment, right? We can make ANYTHING loud by just cranking it up. Their albums aren't really loud, they just sound dull. But the music is dull too, so I guess that's appropriate. And the fact that they had a "rivalry" with Blur, which is, y'know, a GOOD band, is just mindblowing. It's like saying that Sigur Rós had a rivalry with Three Doors Down.

44:22 AAAAHHHHHH!!!! Can't believe you mentioned Eden of the East!
Fun fact: While it's true it only used the song in one episode, this is for the blu ray and streaming release internationally. But the original release In Japan, the song was used for the whole one season. Additionally, Production IG even made their own animated, mosaic-esque music video using the similar opening scene for Eden of the East as their blueprint as their way of saying thank you for using their rights or as a tribute to Oasis.

be here now was a concept album where the concept was that they did a lot of cocaine. all around the world's production wasn't expensive because of the horns and strings, it was expensive because of the amount of cocaine that went up noels nose probably costed him about the same as he made from the album. it only took until their next album (in which the concept is that they quit cocaine) for him to admit he did not like the song.

A shame you didn't fully dive into or at least talk a bit more about ..High Flying Birds but I get this was mainly for Oasis. I love that first album so much and more then most Oasis stuff. "Stop the Clocks" ends the Oasis chapter spectacularly (a unfinished Oasis songs for years). Then "A Simple Game of Genius" is hands down for me, Noel's best song. Only on the special edition and on YT.

38:50 Death in Vegas is actually some really good stuff, their song Dirt is a classic. Also Noel Gallagher appeared on Setting Sun by The Chemical Brothers and Liam appeared on Shoot Down by The Prodigy, The Chemical Bros and Prodigy also remixed a track on Dig Out Your Soul, so there's your Oasis rave you were hoping for.
