I think the problem with a lot of major game companies is that they want their games to look amazing, before even considering gameplay or mechanics or even getting it to work half the time. i think if your gonna make a game, you should make it do everything you want, but just use graphics from a couple of gens ago temporarily. So for ex, making a game for the mythological PS5? then make it using PS3 graphics, or shit even PS2. That way you can get your game to do whatever you want. and then once its doing what you want, and working good then you ramp up the graphics. I remember back in the day when a game came out, they would bring out versions of it for computers that were hella old. so like they would make a game for the snes and genesis, but you could also get it on a friggin ZX Spectrum, commodore 64, master system and nes and many other previous gens as well. nowadays its like they just forget about the previous gens which i think sucks. PS3 still has potential, and PS4 defo still does too. most the games being made for the latest gen could probably still work exactly the same on those previous gens if they just lowered the graphics. i read somewhere that there were almost the same, if not more, polygons in batmans character model in arkham knight as there were for the entire game of arkham asylum, thats just fucking nuts right?.
