Cutest Extinct Animals You’ve Never Heard Of

Lindsay Nikole | March 13, 2025

This week we’re switching it up a bit with some more wholesome content than usual. 🙂 Prehistoric animals are often thought of as “big and scary”, but there were plenty of cute little guys that existed too! Being small, fluffy, and round, with big eyes is timeless — I’ll be introducing you to an animal that hit all of those attributes millions of years ago.

Thank you for sharing these animals. On other news talking about lineages and millions of years ago is simply your belief and not an absolute fact I know I will get attacked for saying this but radiometric dating is always dating different dates for the same fossils and fossils can be created by rapid burial as well. As for lineages nothing proves pterosaurs are related to dinosaurs or that all dinosaurs are related. All this being said loved the video and it was neat finding out that pterosaurs had fur like fuzz.

That's a gorgeous Corn snake. I literally rescued a female amelinistic out of the gutter (she was only slightly larger than a No.2 pencil and likely stolen from a local pet shop, then lost) and took care of Hayworth (named after my 2nd favorite redhead) for 25 years. Tino looks healthy and well cared for; here's to a long friendship.🥂

If this is gonna be a series the Stellas Manatee would be in this category. They're a species of manatee which is the cutest animal ever. But the stellas was much MUCH bigger! So extra cute! ❤❤

I vote for your appartment being quite cute.

I have only just discovered your chanel. You seem really awesome.
I love the content so far. This one, and 2024 discoveries.
I see you have geetars, so assume you play. Do you write? Do you write educational science songs? I would love some SafeForSchoolChildren songs for my science class.
I have long maintaineed that there is only one good science education song as the rest are all a bit naff. The Alfred Wegener song by THe Amoeba People is good.

Can you do better? You would make me a happy teacher and students would learn shit.

IIRC most of what people think is "cute" is baby features. We like roundness and softness and proportionally large eyes bc thats what our young look like, and we're genetically predisposed to think those are cute so we'll care for them, even though they're screaming shit machines. Thats why most traditionally cute animals are mammals, specifically babies or small species. They trigger baby instincts, also why small dogs are cuter than big ones, on average.

Your channel is literally everything I needed. Science/history books aimed at adults are so information dense and rarely are they written for enjoyment and I struggle to follow everything (thanks ADHD), but someone talking at me in a fun hat and band t shirts? Yeah I can definitely learn that way

    Off topic:
As a bit of a nerd for electric guitar and bass (I like to build custom electric guitars and play quite a bit), I am very curious what type of bass that is on the wall. I've seen that body shape plenty of times but I don't know which manufacturer(s) /model(s) use it, plus I spend way more time with guitar than with bass so much less familiarity overall on deep end of the pool.

Edit: guess I wrote that a little early in the video, clearly not as off topic as I was thinking considering you showed a closeup and mentioned it briefly. Still curious about it, though. Also, hell yeah on the whiskey. Best liquor.

I’m trying to introduce my 6 year old to paleontology and archeology and he specifically asked me to comment to say he really likes your videos. Thank you for getting him excited about history!

Oh, don't worry, lass. If we came after every anglophone pronouncing german words, let's say… creatively, we wouldn't have any time left to make techno, build cars and drink beer.
