    I did the AstraZenica vaccine trial around the same time frame you mention. I got the actual vaccine, not the placebo. I was living in Richmond, VA at the time. I had a headache and a sore arm for a day or so, but nothing more. On social media, I was called an idiot, a shill, etc. I live in Central PA now – and the infection rates are insane. I work as a professional musician, and conduct vocal ensembles (oy, the covid-taboo). I've had 5 shots at this point – booster included. I remain negative, in spite of the extreme elevation of infection numbers. I'll gladly be a shill, vaccine-idiot, etc. But, I will be alive. Your immune system isn't political – but the political pride that prevents you from a 'political' vaccine, can be lethal. Ben, you have my respect and appreciation for putting yourself out there.

    Hey I learned a thing. I had never heard about this. WHY aren't these things on the major news channels? This is great. The whole MRNA thing was news to me. When I say this is great it doesn't mean that it's LIKELY that mRNA will achieve FDA approval, but hey, here's hoping works, and that it does get approved once it's proven that it works.

    Hey Benn, I rarely comment on anything, I was inspired by this video, as I am by many of your videos, and took the plunge to sign up as a vaccine volunteer as well. I just wanted to say thanks man, the last few years for me have been rough as fuck but through willpower and determination I was able to get clean off heroine and meth (if anyone reads this and judges me for being an addict, well, go fuck yourself). Your videos helped me through withdrawals, a lot, kept me going and I haven’t ever looked back since. I just wanted to comment and say thank you, also since you inspired me I decided I need to start giving back and thought signing up as a vaccine volunteer was a good start since I am in incredibly good health given my past, which I am utterly grateful for, anyways thanks man.     I didn't know mRNA vaccines could potentially be a general influenza vaccine or an HIV vaccine, as I'd only heard of them in context of "there's an mRNA COVID-19 vaccination in development but no mRNA vaccine has yet been approved for anything because it's new tech". That is quite an exciting prospect.

    I paused the video to ask: why arę you so scared od COVID? Is it co-morbities or knowimf someone who died or almost died? Most people are asymptomatic or have mild symptoms like that of a cold. Some have something like a bad bronchitis (if I had it in early March it was like that for me). I’m not at all afraid of it for myself although the data that reaches us is vague and errs on paranoia, young healthy ppl that die are anomales. Im concerned for my parents and other vulnerable individuals. But even then I have faith my older parents would be in the majority who don’t die or maybe also have moderate symptoms ..

    Hey benn. Thanks for volunteering your body for science. What you didn’t mention, and I wonder if it’s because you never heard of it, is that the worst that can happen is what’s called “vaccine enhancement”. This has happened in animal trials for previous attempts at corona virus vaccines. Dr fauci in a long press conference said there is the potential that the vaccine can make the disease worse. If you read up on vaccine enhancement it explains this phenomenon. Basically previous corona virus vaccine trials failed when some animals immune systems would over -respond to infection (when intentionally infected, something they won’t do in human trials), and more of the vaccinated animals ended up dying than unvaccinated animals. They also had more lung damage. So you may produce antibodies after vaccination, but you still have to be exposed to the virus to observe what happens then. The problem is that since the virus mutates this phenomenon which scientists don’t know that much about yet, can occur not with the version you are vaccinated against, but a future mutated version. From my understanding this is why we need years to fully prove the vaccine won’t harm humans. In your last video you said the worst that can happen is you get overconfident and end up infected because you had a placebo or the vaccine doesn’t work. But the disease is very mild or doesn’t even cause symptoms in the vast majority of people. In the event of worst case scenario (vaccine enhancement ), what would have been mild or no symptoms could end up lung damage and a cyto(something) storm.

    Sweet Cuppin cakes Benn, I never look at comments on Youtube videos because I was peripherally aware of the vitriol they contained, but I was curious this time. It's like a grief cycle reading them. At first I couldn't believe someone would really write such asinine comments, then I got mad and started writing back. Next, I was trying to figure out a way to inform and bargain/plea the case against misinformation but how do you even argue with this level of kool-aide drinking? That made me depressed…

    Maybe it wasn't a very diplomatic move to sujest, that anybody not convinced of vaccines has a deffected mental apparatus in your first video.

    Scince the greatest inconvinience of the overall vaccine issue is, and has been for a while now ,the implementation of mercury ,formaldehyde ,phenol and aluminum in far to many of the various vaccines. These substances are even in those vaccines made for tiny toddlers. (the dosages are naturally rather harmless, to pass throgh our digestive system ,whilst often difficult to dispose of if injected intravenously or into muscle tissue .
    Meanwhile the sideeffect studies concerning :" these materials eventually not leaving our body ever" are unconductable, since the sideffects could develope at any given moment, throughout the rest of our lives.
    )

    This among other things is how trust directed at the medical system is compromised
    And this surely invites many folks to fill out ,the void
    left by brocken trust ,
    with theories of their own making and of those created by others.

You touched on it a little bit during the ACLU marathon (and mentioned a book that I really wish I could remember the name of, but I haven't had time to look for) and it sounds fascinating, especially in relation to your latest album.

    Hey Benn, it sounds to me like you're using the term "herd immunity" incorrectly at 6:53. Herd immunity is not something that an individual has, it's something that the herd (community) has. You acquire regular immunity when you get sick or vaccinated. Herd immunity can be achieved once a threshold of infections or vaccinations makes it mathematically less likely for the disease to spread among the community. Apologies if I misunderstood your usage, though.
