Christianity (or some variations of it at least) seems to take the opposite stance to "intelligent people should have children". It's more like "the most religious people (priests etc) must not have children so they can concentrate on spreading the faith to everybody else's children".

"Your mom" jokes are really sexist … you should think about why it is degrading for someone to imply you have sex with their mom, but not their dad for example.

well thanks for mentioning me. just to clarify, I was talking about people that are more or less universally accredited as to have been enlightened, and I don't think Ghandi or the likes of him are among them. Muhammad was a prophet which is not the same. I don't know of any famous enlightened person that openly supports procreation or consider life as a gift.

4:40 yeah… But that's not how evolution works. Those who are incapable due to genetics of coming to the anti-natalist conclusion will reproduce more and therefore their offspring will be more likely to be incapable of accepting the anti-natalist conclusion. If anti-natalism were to become a very easily spread idea there would still be people capable of accepting it, just not "infected" due to an odd case of herd immunity

Hey there, do you think you could make a small video on Meinong and his Ontology? That'd be amazing to hear some more of his work being discussed around.

I think I'm still missing the point 🙁 Seems like, if the nonexistent person doesn't care about missing out on the pleasure, they also wouldn't care about missing out on the pain.

Thanks for responding, maybe one day I'll read the book.

I find it a bit irritating that you so often precede your selection of comments by something like "there were a number of great comments under that video" but then go on to highlight a lot of not-so-great comments. I mean I think you should highlight the best comments in this format but even if you choose to address misunderstandings or would like to tear apart some weak argument or make fun of insults, don't you think it's unfair to the other commenters to imply that you're showing the cream of the crop and then go on to actually show something that's at least partially more like creamy crap?

I do think you have one of the best comments sections on Youtube but I would never know from the comments you're giving the spotlight to in these videos.

I think that Jesus does have children. Although Jesus was God the Son, He is still part of God the Father and they were both there during the creation of the universe and humanity, and so Jesus does have children- the entirety of the human race.

Thanks for the shoutout (and double thank you for pronouncing my name correctly!). My procedure was voluntary and not a result of any health issues/bad stuff. 🙂

You never pointed out the no kids idea's biggest weakness: it only works from the perspective that emotional stuff like pain and pleasure are the only things that give life value. What about "purpose?" What about the impact you have on others? What about the impact you have on the world. I could go on. I have always come from the moral perspective that pleasure and morality are two completely different things. Is this perspective so radical as to not be worth pointing out?

To clarify: I don't have a problem with the idea of not having kids, just the idea that the value of "pain" alone is justification for it. There is so much more to life than that I could write a hole book on it.
