CNN Data SHOCKER: Independents Turn Against Trump on Inflation

The TEC Show | September 3, 2026

CNN data shows independent voters turning sharply against Trump on inflation, creating a major warning sign for Republicans before the 2026 midterms. With inflation and the economy dominating their concerns, could this decisive voting bloc determine control of Congress?

CNN’s Harry Enten breaks down a dramatic reversal in Trump’s standing with independents on inflation. The segment highlights a 76-point swing from the advantage Trump held during the 2024 election, while trust on inflation has shifted from Republicans +27 in 2022 to Democrats +18 todayβ€”a 45-point movement.

That change matters because inflation remains the top issue for independent voters, followed by the broader economy. If these numbers hold, Republicans could face serious challenges in the battle for the House and Senate.

In this video, we examine what the data shows, why independents are moving and what this shift could mean for the 2026 midterm election.

9/3/2026 Independent voters are Republicans in disguise. They will find a reason to vote for the Republicans, who at this point , have been unable and unwilling to govern nor hold Trump accountable.

If anyone saw that Newsweek poll breaking down Trump's approval rating in all 50 states a couple weeks ago you knew the numbers among independents weren't pretty. Only the cult is still there for him. +6 in Alabama, -3 in Mississippi, -5 in Louisiana, -11 in Florida, -15 in Texas, -24 nationally. That's not independents, that's total

It is quite shocking that it always takes a financial incentive to abandon support for Dumpy. It is not enough that he destroys, causes harm, sows hatred, and kills. No, it is only the financial aspect that tips the scales.

1:30 this part was endlessly frustrating. The tax cut passed under trump 1 came into effect in 2022 and his handling of COVID contributed to the supply chain and all that. That 9% was mostly trumps fault and between people not understanding that and democrats not explaining it… gar

When Trump took office inflation was 3.0 still higher than the desired 2 but coming down. Not only did Trump made it worse with a costly war of choice, plus tariff wars. Then his big beautiful bill caused loss of Healthcare coverage for many and food insecurity by reducing SNAP benefits.
Any working poor person should think twice before voting for Republicans
