The story of how science has dealt with Pluto is a vivid illustration of how science is supposed to function. A hypothesis is developed and evidence to support it is sought. Observations and experimentation generate evidence for review. The results are published for peer review to see it they stand up to enough scrutiny to generate a consensus scientists can agree on. Not a process of proving something, but the highest probability within a margin of error. Dissent on the consensus view is noted. The "book" is not then sealed for all time. Becuase as technology evolves which may enable new discoveries, or surprise evidence surface, scientists come back together to assess new findings. The cycle of published peer review is repeated and those experts come to a new consensus. Those who attack science use the phrase "Trust the Science" as a slur to infer scientists claims perfect knowledge of a topic. Then they criticize science for not being perfect. We saw this over and over with the anti-vaxxer movement. Trusting science in reality means, to trust the process.

I legit cannot believe they didn't notice that the "heart shape" looks like Disney's Pluto's head. Seriously… even with the ear on the left side… just like the dog.

The PLANET Pluto is correct.

The narrative, time line, people, milestone accomplishments, reaction of the team, and success gave me chills. As if it was realtime. Entire careers, young PhDs in every facet, system design, execution… plan, contingency plan, alternatives, and success, with just one near tragedy.

A fitting sequel to the Voyager program.
