CCR : ‘Green River’ | Albums You Should Own
Creedece’s ‘Green river’ is not only their best album, but the one that features the marvelous ‘Bad Moon Rising’ and shows a maturity in Fogerty’s writing.

Their first great album. A great combination of upbeat sounds and dark lyrics

CCR is so overrated, all I hear on the radio in live sets by cover band on the local scene over the past 40 years have more than soured me on them.

I have always liked this album cover. But I wonder how the band thought about it – being cast in the background to John?

Wonderful album but it is over rather quickly. The set is stretched out a little on the CCR 2009 box set, with two bonus tracks and three live cuts. Good set if you can get hold of it.

Actually, the sophomore effort “Bayou Country” is more significant. That album put CCR on the map, and they were making an album like every six months back then..As far as I’m concerned, “they” have 58 other good songs as well..😉
JF was great!

2nd or 3rd album I ever bought. Several of us had to chip in for it. Played it to death. I wonder if the Allman brothers were CCR fans.

Every track on Green River is essential. There isn't a second wasted. It is pretty short though, and could have used one or two longer, swampy groove-out tracks like those on 'Bayou Country'.

Good vid – love me some Creedence!! However, they are not from San Francisco; they are from across the Bay, in El Cerrito to be exact, very near Berkeley, on the other side of the Bay. This may not seem like a difference to you across the pond, but San Francisco and East Bay cultures were quite different.

Very well said..he still sounds great. I'm going to see him play with String Cheese Incident at Red Rocks here in a week. Fogerty Incident. Can't wait.
