Maybe a way to bring up the stroke is to preface it by pointing out to the audience that they have seen you walk out on stage and saying that you do something athletic that day, it sort of starts from a place of levity and makes like clear that you're OK now. Maybe that shows that you're ready to make fun of it before you have to say what it is.

Mike, when I was in fourth grade Cabbage Patch Kids were the IT toy. Like, parents standing in line for hours and sucker punching each other at the toy store. My bffs mom got her one and came to the school to surprise her with it. My parents could not only not afford to get me a toy for no reason, but my mom worked full time and couldn't stand in line for hours to aquire one, but, my fourth-grade teacher made dolls …. So that's what I got for Christmas that year. A handmade doll worh yellow braids (I'm a brunette). I didn't show her to anyone.š
