So Carmine is claiming Sykes was "auditioning" Tommy Aldridge in 1988 for Blue Murder…to pull him away from one of the biggest rock bands in the world at the time…?

I remember back in the 80's when my Uncle told me a story. He's from a small town called Fleetwood, next to Blackpool and was working on a building site as a bricklayer. He told me a story of a guy who was working on the site..He said he had long blonde and said he'd written all the songs for Whitesnake..Nobody believed him. I asked what was his name..'John'…I asked, 'John Sykes?', and he said, 'yeah, i think so'…
That blew me away at the time, but I couldnt believe it, but after hearing how Carmine went to Blackpool at that exact time now seems to have some truth in it.

Ginger Baker was actually the first guy to have the "big drums", prior to Vanilla Fudge. Vinny Appice is very humble & almost the total opposite in comparison to his big brother. So Carmine programmed the Fairlight drum tracks for 'A Momentary Lapse Of Reason' too? 😂

I was fortunate to see Blue Murder in Chicago at Cabaret Metro.
Great set & my buddy caught a drum skin signed by all 3 members.
Also, very good interview. As a matter of fact, ALWAYS excellent for the most part from what I listened too. Keep up the great work. Thanks Heavy Metal bro…🤘😀🤘✌️👍

Carmine only played on one song on the pink floyd album. He kind of makes it sound like he was the drummer on the full album. He wasn't. It was actually Jim Keltner. Carmine only played on Dogs of War. I like the guy but his stories always require some fact checking. He paints himself as the influence for all thing rock n roll throughout history.

What a band! They all brought it but John Sykes went deep AF with the songwriting, guitar playing and stellar vocals. Saw the Valley of the Kings video on MTV ONE time! Was absolutely floored, bought the cassette and played it til it fell apart. The debut album is a monster and it really blows Blue Murder wasn't released sooner. I'd pay to see that live show 7 out of 7 nights.

I saw Kings X, Blue Murder, & Billy Squier at the Cleveland Public Music Hall on Saturday November 25th, 1989. That capped a helluva year for me that included Cinderella, Winger, Bullet Boys, Metallica, The Black Crows, Aerosmith, Cheap Trick, 38 Special, Tesla, Great White, & Badlands. They were all touring off new albums. No legacy crap. I caught Ozzy and Anthrax at the very end of 88’ so it was a pretty solid 12 month run and it was all new stuff at the time. Zakke Wylde was 18 I think. Damn!

Carmine never fails to surprise me how many times he can slip in that he's better than everybody, everyone was influnced by him, and someone in the band was a druggie (even though he goes on to talk about how much they partied together) in every interview. When you think there's no space for it – he finds it.

I’m sure Tony Franklin really appreciates Carmine’s describing him as an alcoholic / substance abuser during this period. Some people don’t know when to STFU. If you want to write a book about the 2000 women you fucked, knock yourself out. But there’s no reason to air someone else’s dirty laundry. It’s no one’s business.

Great drummer but damn, listening to him pat himself on the back in every interview is nauseating. Always low-key dissing other drummers too. Like everybody else had to "settle" for Aynsley Dunbar, Tommy Aldridge, Cozy Powell, etc. because "Kaw-mine wasn't available" ……🤢 Cut it out , please !!!

Love Carmine mad respect but he was not the first guy to have a big drum kit. Ronnie Tutt had the biggest kit back in 69/70. He can toot his horn because he did amazing things that others never thought of but let's give credit where it's due

I used to work maintenance at a Red Roof Inn years ago and Blue Murder stayed at the motel and they were doing construction on the motel and we had to move them to different rooms. I had to help carmine move to a different room and he was pissed and he started to take it out on me and I dropped his bag right there in the parking lot and gave him the key and said there you go. I understand why he was upset but sorry I'm not going to take crap from a 5 foot 5 asshole when it wasn't my fault. Rickey Medlocke stayed there once and he was cool as hell. But I could tell just from that encounter and listening to his interviews he's a complete egomaniacal douchebag

Nobody is a bigger fan of Carmine than Carmine!! Dude needs to put a sock in it. I am sure I am not the only one to say that nobody gives a rats behind about Blue Murder King Cobra or Vanilla Fudge….like NOBODY!!! 👎👎

Carmine is great, just ask him. Jokes aside he is a great drummer but always missed the mark it seems. Other than rod Stewart, im sure that paid well. I wish we had more from Sykes back then, he is an amazing fuckin guitar player.
