This comes after Trumps unhinged Truth Social ramblings called for the sitting members of Congress to be put to death. Turns out the video wasn’t as controversial as the regime’s propaganda machine wants you to think.

    Some perspective from outside the US. The US Democratic Party is a center-right conservative party, if compared with the political landscapes of other western democracies. The Republican party is by now an extremist right party, standing for racism, misogyny and white Christian supremacy, crushing civic freedoms, banning books, fighting against science.
    The US does not have a proper "left" party, and I don't mean socialist or communist. There is no party that truly puts the goal front and center to get rid of ANY poverty, to bring healthcare to everyone (which would benefit the whole society, even just fiscally), to ensure equal access to education as well as equal and proportional sharing of loads by everyone, from top to bottom. And the outdated constitution prevents a 3rd party getting started.
    Pretty much every American you ask to name their greatest worries or problems in life would talk about something that is related to them seeing no way out of poverty or discrimination or exploitation or violence.
    Now imagine what the world could look like if we'd make sure that no one is left behind. NO. ONE.

    See how well the excuse “we were just following orders” worked for the Nazis on trial at Nuremberg? Yeah, exactly. It’s an excuse, but not a very good one. That’s why it’s legal in the US to not follow illegal orders given to you, if they’re from an officer higher up, or even the president who’s your commander and chief-it doesn’t matter who it’s coming from. You have the right to refuse and that’s a protection for YOU if it ever comes to that point you know what your options really are🙏🏼💞🤞🏼

    Just started watching but i cant currently recall someone in charge being put to death in america for going against thr government. Ive heard other countries like Russia, some middle east, maybe German when Hitler was in charge… huh odd

    Also north Korea and China but doesnt really work with what im talking about

    Cant he just pardon them anyways, so none of this really matters. If they follow any unlawful order, Trump can just pardon them.
    Further, can't he just do a pre-emptive blanket pardon on any service member that follow "presumably lawful orders", and move on.
    The idiots of the constitution thought pardon powers were a great idea 🤣 – such tragic failure of imagination

    A huge part of Trump’s game is “audacity”. The more audacious, the more successful. People are so distracted by his utter disregard for the law or truth that it’s almost insulting to waste time arguing with him. The same is true for Fox News.

    As a veteran I can only pray that our military leaders stand tall in the face of this tyranny. Abu Ghraib should still be in the memories of many.

    During my time in the Army, it was explained to me by a FirstSgt that when given orders, they are presumed to be lawful, illegal or not. If a soldier disobeys an order, then that's just what that is. During legal discourse and/or court marshalling is when the order is put up to be determined lawful or unlawful. Much like how a civilian is arrested and then put on trial to see if what they did was illegal. Only real difference is that "entrapment" isn't a thing, as thats what leads to the Nuremberg defense

    Having large portions of the military violating orders open's a can of worms. You might think the left will win and save "muh democracy" but something much much more vicious from the right will come out of the woodwork and pull the rug out from under you. Imagine if Prigozhin had reached moscow.

    They will cross the rubicon and you will not be ready for it.

    The video is definitely what they call “stirring the pot”. Vague enough to plausibly deny yet obviously directed at the administrations policies. I think it’s a bold move. Let’s see how it works out for em

    What american soldier is going to get tried for a war crime? We very openly will not allow international courts to be used on our soldiers. So it would be same military that told them to do the war crime that would have to try them. Or the next presidential admin would have to bring charges against them which is also totally unbelievable unless its a Shelling Fort Sumter sized event. Unfortunately, their best bet is just to follow orders and hope they don't get in trouble. We are in the era of no consequences unless you are poor, so these soldiers are more likely to be punished for not following orders than following orders even if they are unlawful.

    Please help what do I do I’m scared women’s right are going away and just protests seem to not help I’m also an immigrant tho white what do I do i heel hopeless the most important thing I cherished in this time period was freedom to do anything I want but I am so scared I’ll be abused because the law allows it I feel powerless

    I am a retired enlisted service member. The problem with disobeying illegal orders is that most service members don't have a law degree and expertise in both military law and constitutional law. If you get it wrong and the courts decide that the order was lawful, you are risking everything. Most military members are high school graduates with no college education. The presumption of lawfulness puts the burden of proving an order is unlawful and if they follow an order that was unlawful, the burden is on the service member to prove the order is lawful. It's a catch-22.
    It's easy for those not in this position to just say, don't follow illegal orders, but many of the constitutional issues are only decided to be illegal by the courts after lengthy court battles with conflicting court decisions.
    The issue with consulting JAG is that a JAG lawyer isn't there when you are given an illegal order. They don't serve on the front lines, they work in buildings back at base.

    The video meant something, until Republicans started credibly threatening a sitting senator, war hero, astronaut with death.

    We need to realize something, Kelley could be executed in a years time and the vast majority of the Republicans would be cheering.
