Britny Fox Plays Illinois With NO ORIGINAL MEMBERS

The Hair Metal Guru | May 9, 2026

Britny Fox played a show on July 31st with no original members. The only original member in the band, bassist Billy Childs, didn’t play this gig… my buddy Patrick and I discuss the ramifications.

Lynyrd Skynyrd are still touring with zero original members. It’s all just a cash grab but…..beats an office job I guess. I play in three different tribute bands and at this point, lots of these bands are damn close to that.

I m reply 7 montgs after this video. So I don't kniw if you already know this but Michael Kelly Smith has said in interviews that he wants Britny to reform.

This is lame and beyond pathetic. At this point come up with a new name, write new original music and let Britny Fox retire. Didn’t Autograph do this too?

Sometime’s when I step out my front door, I dream I’m a member of Britny Fox.

And there is a time for a very long 10 seconds I am.

    I understand why.

    Never let Britny Fox die!

It's no different than Molly Hatchet or Blackfoot because one of members or all of them have the trademark for Britney Fox Greg was in Brittney Fox before and Kenny is a great bass player I know them

I was there, and it kicked ass. Billy Childs was not there, but somehow it didn't matter. I saw them in 89, and present day it's just as good. Quiet Riot is an example that proves replacements can still bring the magic.

There were two magazines that existed in the 90s called livewire and screamer and the perfectly balanced every single type of metal and grunge that there was.. that is proof alone that Grunge did not kill metal🎉. This whole thing about grunge killing metal is such a silly myth

I didn't watch this whole video but I need to ask if you address the issue of the last britny Fox album.. I don't remember the name but it was during the grunge era.. was it discussed

This is one of my three favorite YouTube channels however.. I am the flannel Guru and I'm telling you now that it existed from 1985 to 1990. Everything that came out from 91 going forward is not real grunge.. it didn't kill metal

I like it the way I heard Jizzy Pearl explain what he calls QR…He says he is a member of a "legacy" band…he makes no excuses that he knows theirs only 1 original member…and that he is a replacement singer ….

Britney Fox was never original to begin with wasn't it two guys from Cinderella that came over? They had like two songs anyway so who cares who was playing. They were never a big act and people pay a lot of money nowadays to be able to go see a show and have a good time….cancelling a show would be stupid. Do I prefer original members? Yes if it's Maiden….this is a low level nobody really cares for more then 5 minutes type of band….let them play and pay some bills it's all good.

Molly Hatchet, Skynyrd and Blackfoot all no original members. Don't cancel the show most people go for the escape and to hear some music they love

I was at that show in Streator. I was surprised there was no Billy but the band sounded great! I posted 4 videos here on YouTube. All those who commented were angry that Billy was a no show. They opened for Quiet Riot which only had 1 member, Rudy Sarzo. As you guys say people need to make money to live. It would have been nice for Britny to say why Billy was missing but they didn't. All in all it was a good show. Thanks guys for this discussion.

weak….. to much understanding and no balls by the hosts to call shit out…. I understand, ……. I understand…… blah blah blah… lol…. I used to tour with Lynard Skynard and never played a show where they had the same members, each show had a completely different lineup…… Molly Hatchet always had Dave Hluebek in it, but his health was always bad…… maybe Led Zepplin needs to make a comeback or Elvis Presley……. bwahahahaha……. and how about bands that have multiple lineups with each lineup having one original member… How many Ratt bands are touring now?…. lol

Same thing happened with Dirty Looks a couple years back. No one had actually been in the band before. Guys said “we just want to play some festivals”. No sh*t, who doesn’t. Eventually one guy came back.

The original members were busy doing a reinactment of the signing of the declaration of independence. Those dudes dressed like Benjamin Franklin and George Washington

It happens all the time with legacy bands. There's lots of them out there doing whole tours without any OG members. This was one show cuz dude got sick. As long as the audience left happy, I dont see any issue.

Michael Kelly Smith was my guitar teacher about 10 years or so ago before I relocated for work. We talked about the prospects of Britney Fox doing shows and Mike indicated that there wasn’t enough money in it to make it worth his time. He did better teaching guitar and he could be home every night. Mike was a down to earth guy and wasn’t delusional about the band or being a rock star.

How about a festival featuring only rock bands with no original members left? I can think of four at the top of my head – The Quireboys, Foreigner, Molly Hatchett and, of course, Britny Fox.
