The American healthcare system is a disgusting mess of cruelty but I am eternally grateful that I was able to just walk into a Planned Parenthood and get a prescription for estrogen and spironolactone within the same day. Literally just made the appointment online, showed up, and got to start my transition instantly.

I genuinely cannot imagine how my trans brothers and sisters in the UK deal with waiting so long. I probably would have ended my life if I was unable to get a prescription as fast as I did. Informed consent saves lives!!

You gave me a BIG scare thinking you were dead! Please use "post factum" or something like that instead of "post mortem". It can be hard for people who are dealing with grief to casually see those words on screen. THANK YOU ! embarrassed emoji

I don't know if it's a coincidence or not, but today (05-04-2026) I got a survey through the YouGov platforms specifically regarding life and experiences as an LGBTQ+ individual, and experiences of discimination in NHS and workplace settings. There was also a section on Conversion Practices. Hopefully it ends up being used well

58:59 Building a Person: Legal and Clinical Personhood for Autistic and Trans Children in Ontario by Jake Pyne is a really good article about this, but is more specific to Canadian conversation therapy bans

Another major overlap is autistic trans people experience more barriers to accessing gender affirming care, and the increase in autistic youth accessing gender affirming care is consistently used as a justification for increased restrictions, despite the fact that autistic trans people do not disproportionately ‘regret’ transitioning, and either way should still have the same right to bodily autonomy as everyone else

I’m going to be coming back to Britain by next march or April. I’m sixty, trans, and I’m currently medically transitioning.
Will I definitely have to start from scratch with regards to my current medication regimen when I move?

Just in the off chance that you read this, because you said you like trans horror novels I'd like to recommend erotic horror genre novel WARHOUND by Kallidora Rho. It's the story of an ace mecha pilot who's kidnapped and brainwashed by the evil empire, and has a lot to say about the relationship between trans femininity and fascism.

Long time viewer here, I loved this video: I thought it was very informative, clear, to the point. Philosophy Tube at its best 🔥🔥 go Abigail! I've learnt so much on trans rights thanks to your videos, I'm forever grateful

No judgment because I'm assuming you didn't know and it's really hard to track bad brands from good ones: Dollskill is notorious for stealing from artists, especially artists of color, and they were extremely sketchy with police support during the early 2020 BLM movement. They've also had some dog whistle moments towards white supremecy. Demonia boots are awesome, but I'm kindly suggesting finding another retailer if at all possible.

I love your work and can't wait for HotD season 3❤

I know that whatever you do with PT and beyond is going to be the greatest. I'm happy that this isn't the end yet. I'm happy to wait. Although, the wait might be made easier if some Lohar merch were to come out somewhere to ease the loneliness. 🐲

On Professionalism. Maybe you should get Zack Polanski to teach you a B-Boy move called the 'Coffee Grinder'? – He, like me has bad knees, but it is actually pretty easy on the knees. It seems like culturally we've gone from Brittney Spears to Professional Spear Tactics – so maybe an antidote is a bit of unconventional Drunken Kung Fu? I've got a sticky/arthritic hip – I do Coffee Grinders to loosen up all the time, which is probably not what a professional physiotherapist would recommend, but I find very effective for me.

ABA is still literally the only recommended "therapy" for Autism in many places. A lot of people subjected to it develop PTSD. I only figured out that I was Autistic when I was in my late 20s and even with the having known I was weird but not known why for my whole life, and all the neuroses-slash-possible-mental-illnesses I developed from that, I still think I'm better off having figured it out as an adult than having been diagnosed as a child and subjected to ABA.

one thing i do not get – the UK has a strong handle on racism, sexism, etc. it' s not perfect but then instances of such are generally condemned. so why is there such latent transphobia?

As I imagine others did, I watched the main video in bits over a bit longer time than usual episodes, only finishing it on the 28th March. Hopefully the numbers show that lots of people eventually came back to finish the whole thing.

    Re viewership:
I think (and hope) that your video will be a classic. Like except for AI slop and non-AI regurgitating slop channels just repeating what others have recently done, there won't be many videos with in-depths info about the current state of conversion therapy and it's history.
Arguably a vast majority of all videos on Youtube are content that are very similar to loads of other content, and thus there will always be something newer and probably better that eats up viewership of those videos.
(Missed commenting direct while you streamed).

Abby, I love your channel. To give you an idea of how much: When I saw you drop a 2 hour and 10 minute video, I was undeterred. I was excited. And I locked in!

I really appreciate the work that went into refining claims in response to defamation law. I often want to share your videos with my rather more conservative family, but end up paraphrasing for fear that the more hyperbolic or less fully evidenced claims in your videos might give them something to pounce on and enable them in their minds to throw out the logic of the rest of the video. This video, though, I think might actually get through to them – particularly (with their backgrounds in healthcare and science) the effects of poor research practices on trust and confidence. They might not like the fact that trans people exist, but I can see some of the arguments in this video leading them to a perspective that supports an environment that is less hostile for trans people

Until very recently I only used the subscription page (which has always showed me everything, even though I've heard people have issues with it), but YT recently changed that feed to remove the list option which made it useable and now it feels so wrong to me.

Following Blagatha's comment, the is a similar parallel with historical Welsh children in schools being "converted" to English – being punished for speaking thier mother tongue also. And similarly left-handed students forced to use their non-dominant hand I agree its not quite to the same depth but an interesting parallel of control.

I also wonder the extent these parallel "conversions" are done today… especially with students who converse in thier mother-tongue with thier peers amidst the current day false rhetoric of "they've come to our country they should speak…"

I want to finally say a huge thank you to Abigail (and team) for creating the original video on conversion practices. It was deeply moving. Thank you.

30:25 – I did the exact same shit, print out a ream of paper and physically hand it to my gp to get her to refer me. It's depressed that that's how it works

  23. @CrispyBugBear

53:50 yes but I also suspect some of the issues around shared care refusal is down to the BMA and disputes over GP working contracts. Suspect, cant prove. But an important nuance.

17:56 i absolutely loved the footnotes on this. Creative footnotes are great. I put a footnote in my thesis about foot washing and I used it like a little easter egg of bonus content. Which is what the footnotes in the video felt like.

One of the only good things right now about being a US citizen, is the current right to say conversion practices are immoral, torture, and life-threatening. And the people who practice them should be ashamed of themselves, and never giving access to anyone! especially children!!

Wait, people think they're home page is their subscription page…. okay….?!? Lol i've been very confused why people aren't seeing their are YouTubers videos pop-up because I always check my subscriptions… But this makes a lot more sense. Wow YouTube sucks

I was waiting until the end of the video to comment, "Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is conversion therapy for Autistics." to see if you talked about it, but then I forgot… so I'm saying it here and posting it now so I don't forget again.

Edit: 57:57, you bring it up in this video! Yay!

27:42 Well, when I first saw it, it did put me in mind of the Kids in the Hall character, Chicken Lady, but I wasn't gonna say…

    Glad you mentioned it here.
