I would occasionally remember Bonsai Kittens and supress the memory because it plays into my claustrophobia and the horror of this idea has stuck with me until this day and i honestly think i could handle small spaces better if it weren't for Bonsai Kittens.. i remembered it again. Now I'm 33, its 3am, I'm depressed as shit and wanted to see something fucked up to feel something so I googled it. It isnt real..?!
Life is a toilet and i am shit.
Is the concept not plausible?

This is weird. I remember this but as a swedish site. And the text and pictures wasn't like shown here. The text didn't say the same thing as here either it didn't talk so much about bonsai trees and stuff… and I wasn't that good at english at that time so it had to be in swedish? I remember the site being spread and even making it to newspaper bc ppl were so concerned that some freak did this for real.
I especially remember that it said you could NOT take the cat out of the bottle. And the parody was more about wanting a cat that sat in one place like a plant, not just to have it stay small.
I remember how the site looked and it was not like this. It was more basic old-school internet looking. Like a white background and just unformatted text and some pictures that looked more like bad quality… Not a square jar. I especially remember a white cat and a regular brown striped. They were not kittens. It had different types of cats on it I think.

I wonder if that site was a copycat version or the original. It looked more old but it could be lazyness too XD

So interesting to see how so many people got enraged to this point by a very clearly fake site when selective breeding is literally that but done in a longer timeframe. You don't physically modify a single animal like you would do with plants (with the exception of tail/ear cropping and other shit like that) but you "shape" them over generations to make them more aesthetically pleasing to some, even if it means that you'll eventually produce highly deformed individuals with a ton of health issues. You are looking at brachycephaly-related respiratory problems, bent and deformed limbs, joint issues and dysplasia, skin-fold dermatitis, spinal issues, etc every day when you're walking down the street but that's ok because it's not as striking as a kitten in a bottle apparently
