The idea that jurisdiction is tied to allegiance makes perfect sense when you realise that the people pushing it want Americans overseas to be immune to the laws of the countries they're in.

i'm pro-birthright citizenship bcs immigrants who come here are already part of our society since the US is extractive imperialistic and already impacted their home countries and lives. (leeja's UK analogy)

BUT, it seems the majority decided to align with anti-civil anti-labor rights american conservatism, and now they're being abused and discarded with same bigotry they were supporting as they allowed themselves to be tools to dismantle the great society policies (while simultaneously benefiting from them). so if this battle needs to be fought then they need to be the ones using the resources they've built over past generation+ to fight it

I'm a little confused. Why did you argue that Jus Soli is bad and racist and came from colonialism? What you said about the history is true and it's fair to say that we should learn it because the context is important, but you're advocating in favor of birthright citizenship to protect marginalized people against the bigots that want to remove it. What is the point of highlighting how evil Jus Soli was in its inception if the argument is that we shouldn't follow the rest of the world's example in moving away from it? Doesn't that just support the argument that Jus Sanguinis is somehow better?

You cannot genocide something that doesn't exist. Let's put all the bullcrap aside and discuss the definition of a woman.

There is no other word in the English language that has two definitions that directly contradict each other.

You cannot have a woman sex and a woman gender that's not how language works. The definitions directly contradict each other.

Let me ask this. yall say gender is a social construct right?

Is religion not a social construct?

    Is there proof god exists?
    Is there proof gender exists?

I don't expect yall to believe god exists why do you expect me to believe gender exists?

There's no proof either exists right?

Donald Trump is only second generation American on his father's side, his Grandparents and mother were immigrants so he barely qualifies for his own rule but it does explain the weird wording…😂

It's interesting that you acknowledge "just Solei" as a tool for colonizers, but don't similarly see that we are now getting colonized.

Apparently it's racist to point out that the original demographics of America is shrinking further and further and we're literally losing the soul of what "American culture" is with "multiculturalism" in its place. Except multiculturalism is a trojan horse: what it actually is is replacing American culture with insular colonies from different countries: exactly the same shit that Israel is doing in the west Bank in Palestine: somehow it's simultaneously ok for that to happen in America but not ok in Palestine to have colonizers.

Multiculturalism, if it were as benign as you all claim it is, would be non-insular communities of expats from other countries who all live together, integrated into a mixed blend of culture. Basically, turning our American culture into a mixed stew. But that's not what we have: we have isolated, insular communities of non-americans who refuse to become culturally American. Case in point: Somalis: do they live and work among regular Americans? Not really. They live in such an isolated communities that some Somali-Americans born here live their entire lives never learning English, and never working or even interacting with non-somali Americans. How is that not cultural colonization?

It’s always laughable if not pathetic how the “textualists” and “Constitutionalists” seem to never read the Constitution when it comes to things like birthright citizenship. The words are pretty damn clear.

Why should a tourist's newborn get citizenship? The intent of legislator was obviously not this. Also, foreign citizens are also under the legislation of the US, so basically everyone entering the country should get citizenship if you read the constitution like that.

To be fair, when the 14th amendment was written, the writers didn’t envision a future where immigrants were able to get in and out of the country with such ease as a result of modern technology, and didn’t expect for the us to be as popular with immigrants as it is

Nothing you're saying stops the supreme Court from reinterpreting the meaning….I argued this in US history in highschool. I said then that the supreme Court has far too much unchecked power…..there needs to be a people's check on their power so that we can overrule them if they go rogue.

Thank you for mentioning the trans rights issues. Personally, one of the most terrifying aspects is how little reporting is happening around it. Outside of direct trans sources, main stream media seems to pass right past these stories.

We're there messing up. Is the whole birthright citizenship? Due was made specifically for black people. There was free black people. And then when they did the dread scott case, they enslaved those people too.It was for black people and black people.Only no one goes to war.And dies, just to let people come over and do what they're doing. Now it's crazy.

It sounds very straight forward that the Supreme Court should laugh Trump out of court on this, but that's also what I thought when Trump begged for immunity for his crimes and they made it up for him then… you can't trust them to do whats right

Well I guess both Melania and her family are going back to Slovenia. Trumps mom is an immigrant from Scotland!🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
