ATARI Intellivision Sprint at PRGE | YOUR Questions Answered!
GenXGrownUp | April 14, 2026
So many great comments and questions on yesterday’s hands-on video here at PRGE of the Intellivision Sprint at the Atari booth, so I took copious notes and did my best to answer the most common questions that viewers asked.
I've already ordered mine. It would be great if it could also play ColecoVision games. It would make sense, since the keypad is the same on both consoles.
I just ran across my original Intellivision today working in my garage. I still have the sound module and 25 games or so with the overlays. I was saving it to create a dedicated game room but mine didn't have removable controllers if I remember correctly. The controller wire was coiled. Back in the 80's, I had to send away for new side buttons because the soft rubber ones wore out and they sent me harder versions. I just need my kids to move out so I can build my game room with all the old consoles I kept, my multicade and my sim racing rig
I still have my original Intellivision and it still works. I also bought the Intellivision Lives that came out for PS2, but I'm still going to buy this. I love Intellivision! Lol
My couzin must be flipping out over these lol. He always had the latest and best pcs and consoles om 84 up till now hes still a huge puter nerd to put it mildly.
The hollowed out back was great for controller grip and rapid firing those side buttons. It’s not a deal breaker since they’re wireless. Will definitely be picking one up
Interesting to note: The Sports games no longer have the professional organization's logos on them. When they were originally released, the respective professional organizations sponsored/licensed the games: The NFL, PBA, NBA, PGA, MLS, MLB, and NHL all had their logos on the games. Now, they don't. I also notice that the original Basketball isn't included; It's noticeable because that one didn't have the 3-point line.
Also anyone notice that the gambling games were not included? No Las Vegas Blackjack and Poker, or Horse Racing were included.. I could understand if some of the licensed games or 3rd party games would need to be sideloaded, but the native ones that Mattel themselves put out are missing, making the list rather interesting.
Great option for someone that doesn't already have an Intellivision console. I absolutely hope they find a way to make those wireless controllers available for owners of the original consoles. Some versions of the console have external DB9 ports. Even the original can be modded to add external port. s
Whoa, whoa, whoa. Back up there, egghead. If I own a physical cartridge, I can put that game on a USB stick and plug it into this thing? Ok, how? Someone please enlighten those of us who are not balls deep into retro gaming.
Thanks, Jon. I appreciate you going over the questions people sent in. You actually answered 2 of mine, which was great! I'm sorry it took a few days to get to these intellivision videos. You guys did a bang-up job at PRGE. I hope you get to go again next year.
The Intellivision controllers were the, um, inspiration for the controllers attached to the Arcadia 2001 console. If this can emulate other systems, it'd be fun for the six people (like me) that owned the Arcadia to play on.

You download them online, google is your friend. (Downloading roms is kind of the same level as illegal mp3s.)

Lack of physical cartridge support is a non-starter for me.

can’t play old games without the manuals. sometimes out in front of you.such as bowling. it defines how to hook the ball and slickness

Still gonna hold off on this because of the lack of licensed and third party titles.

Can It switch from 4:3 to 16:9 stretch like Atari 2600+. I actually run these on a CRT and stretching to 16:9 is how it fills a 4:3 CRT

Does it come with 2 overlays for all the games included in the system?

How would one go about playing games that aren’t already included? Downloading the game on a USB stick and inserting it?

Shame Microsoft acquired Activision, could’ve packed many more games on here from the OG system
