We got a new Gravely (which is owned by Ariens) mower a couple of years ago. Before purchase, I noticed the deck belt had a twist in it, figured the assembler/manufacturer had to know something I didn't. It lasted 15 minutes. Blade bolt torque was all over the place (just by feel, I didn't use a torque wrench). Oil drain weeps ever so slightly. I tried to tighten it, but it never fully went away. Assuming I'll have to pull it when I change oil next and it'll need pipe tape or dope. They either don't train the assemblers correctly, they push them too hard, or they don't care about the finished result. πŸ™‚ It seems very sad to spend 13k on a machine and have those problems.

Not anywhere near the US; this skit feels universal from when I've heard my mom and aunts' stories from back when they die line work and farm work!

I think most people underestimate how good work it can be when you have good colleagues, proper safety measures in place, and management mostly stays out of your way. ❀
