Our dam monitoring and release systems, stream flow monitoring systems, traffic lights, all mapping systems that use data from US satellites be they government entities or private companies via ArcGIS they make maps the most of y'all can't comprehend in their huge including information that is accurate within a few inches or less for gas pipelines, water distribution systems, electrical grids, phone systems (land, wireless, and satellite), emergency alert systems, satellites, missile detection system, tsunami detection systems, climate monitoring systems, reverse 911 systems, and basically every system that keeps disaster at bay is held together with duct tape, string, popsicle sticks, and the internet. Which is not great for a country that likes to piss off everybody on Earth ever since the beginning of this country and during the creation of this country. The ridiculous thing is that we allowed someone to breach some of the closed loop systems for various systems that I won't name that you can probably find it on the internet, but I'm not helping you. Thankfully it was found and the line was cut but we made a big mistake by doing that. People have to understand that what happened isn't due to simple incompetence and that is not something that we can afford to be careless about. The location, control centers, and so forth for the closed system are unknown to the public because our closed-loop systems are made for the most important systems during an attack because they can't be hacked. I laugh at your jokes because otherwise I will cry because if a large language model or an actual generative AI program gets to any of them I genuinely don't want to know what the result will be.

I don't normally listen to american comedians, because they're usually american centric and it doesn't translate well for a uk audience. The senses of humour of both nations are very different, but this guy should tour the uk for sure.

Ai is pretty good right now. I think we should take a break from improving it and start working on tools to use it for our benefit. This will bring real value to the world.

As for the three-month leave — I work at a call center for a dental clinic in Russia. At the end of May, I broke my leg and I've been on paid sick leave ever since — for more than four months now. We don't have any democracy, we have a war, and our economy is shit, but the social security safety net is genuinely great. I had surgery, spent three weeks in the hospital, and paid nothing.

No no no. The problem isnt that AI could evolve into its own consciousness. The issue is the codes it is being given. The problem is who controls it. Inthe backstory of Dune, it wasnt that machines took over, it was that a very few group of humans used advanced machines to enslave people and set themselves up as gods. Humans acting poorly remains our biggest threat. I think we are getting too whimsical about the possibility of an independent mind coming after us, when certain people are already doing it or on their way.
