Anthropic in Disagreement With Pentagon Over AI Surveillance
Anthropic’s talks about extending a contract with the Pentagon are being held up over additional protections the AI firm wants to put on its Claude tool, a person familiar with the matter said. Anthropic wants to put guardrails in place to stop Claude from being used for mass surveillance of Americans or to develop weapons that can be deployed without a human involved, the person said, asking not to be identified because the negotiations are private. Bloomberg’s Neil Campling explains.

To Anthropic CEO Dario, please don't give in to these illegal demands of the government…. We are already moving towards a mass surveillance state and allowing a powerful model such as Claude to power surveillance will prove fatal to any basic privacies we have left…. I beg of you to find a resolution with them without allowing the most powerful tools to be used for obviously immoral ends.

Anthropic knows exactly what they are doing. Let me remind people, that Anthropic advertises themselves as a public benefit company but the Times wrote once so adequately:
'There is no obvious mechanism, however, for the public to sue Anthropic’s board members for not pursuing its public benefit mission strongly enough. “To my knowledge, there’s no way for the public interest to sue you to enforce that,”
This is just a smoke screen as it would be very inconvenient for them before a possible IPO. OpenAI and Anthropic are simply 2 pees in a pot. On top of that the dev that created that awful agent system clawbot (goes by so many names by now, choose your own here) has now been hired by Anthropic. That agent system is an essential threat to cyber security across the globe, especially because it has been replicated by now at such a speed like we usually only see from scammers or virus attacks.

Then why are they operating in Europe since countries like the UK now mandate companies like Apple create backdoors for access and also now want ID verification for VPN use. So will Anthropic pull out of European operations because of stuff like that.
