It’s already been eight years since Paul Rudd joined the MCU as Ant-Man, and this third movie in the series sees him kicking off Phase 5. So with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Marvel really had to start this new phase off with a bang. While some may argue that they didn’t succeed in that, one thing is for sure: they kicked it off with some naked MODOK butt.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania definitely raises some questions. Like why did Janet keep such a big secret from everyone for SO LONG into the movie? What’s going on with MODOK’s face? If Kang is the big bad of the next two phases, why did we just watch him get beat up by some bugs? Did anything really change after this movie?

When I'm pretty sure I'll hate a movie, but I want to be completely sure, I watch the Pitch Meeting; and then I'm glad I didn't waste my time and money. Because most movies suck, but all Pitch Meetings are great. Oh, watching Pitch Meetings instead of wasting time and money is tight!

God, this movie was terrible. I almost cannot believe how bad it was. Baffling. (And, shockingly, it is NOT one of the couple of worst MCU movies made in that time frame).

SG: "Well we are gonna do this thing where Scott is gonna be hesitant to help these people and Cassie's gonna be like 'just because it doesn't affect you that doesn't mean it's not happening.'"
PG: "Didn't he help Captain America during Civil War even though it didn't affect him?"
SG: "My back has arrived at the terminal and the Captain has turned off the fasten seat belt sign. Please disembark at your earliest convenience."

SG: "So then Scott overcomes his brand-new character flaw by coming to fight Kang and rescue Cassie!"
PG: "So he mostly came back to save his daughter?"
SG: "That's right, yeah."
PG: "So it sounds like he only got involved because the problem affected him."
SG: "Oh… uh…"
PG: "So really he didn't overcome his character flaw at all."
SG: "Uh… uh…
PG: "In fact considering how he didn't have that flaw when we started it sounds like his character regressed in this movie."
SG: "Well character regression is still technically character development, so that totally counts as an arc."
PG: "It does!?"
SG: "I'm a writer!"

Disney+ came up in my streaming service rotation for this month so I watched this movie. I remember thinking "I can't wait to see the pitch meeting for this."
Turns out I'd already seen it, but I'd just forgotten everything.
