learning to like j-pop? it’s one of my favorite genres honestly. sheena ringo, phantom siita, wasuta, tommyfebruary6, perfume, hikaru utada, akb48, jun togawa, and atarashii gakko are just a few example artists off the top of my head.

Woudl you do a top 15 favorite albums this decade or a top 15 best albums this decade. I had another one why don’t you do more ddds on females artists you only have like 5/10 you should try to get more females artists in the series.

Separate question why haven’t you done a clary Rae Jepsen ddd

it would honestly be really cool to see him examine music scenes from different countries, a lot of the music online space is plagued with mainly the western music scene so it would be cool to see him cover music scenes of outside of the west. like that one person said, brazil would be cool, stuff like music from south east asia like my own country, malaysia, would be really cool to see too. i especially love when people mix whatever genre they do with the sound of their cultures traditional music, ive heard people combine rock music with traditional malay instruments and it sounds awsome, so i would love for mr snare to go into things like that since it would be a very interesting video to see how music scenes vary across the world. it would be cool too to see some interviews of people from said country that are active in that music scene to hear some first hand experience, the interviews i feel would also shed more light on the context and meaning of the music that someone outside the country may not understand at first glance, so talking to a local about it would really be beneficial and interesting. it wouldnt be an easy thing to make and produce, but if its at all possible it would be really interesting to see. im sure theres already people out there that do that but you dont find a lot that do it on 'smaller' countries like ones from SEA, and one of the things that particularly drove me to mr snare is how in depth his research is, so a series like that would be really really cool and interesting to see!

So I think it's pretty clear from this video that you've finally relented and are doing the DDD on Michael Jackson. Looking forward to watching that whenever it comes out and I hope in the process of the research for that video, you'll be able to see just how ridiculous the allegations against him were.

Congrats on 300K! I watched your Glee and 2010s music a few years back, and have come back every once in a while.

To your points about divisive music discourse, I think that a lot of it comes down to the structures and systems of internet platforms, which prioritize continued use of such platforms over anything else. It can sort be seen with the "switch over" meme describing when popular perceptions of a recent piece of media change from being positive to negative (and vice versa). People tend to be separated in their own algorithmically-created bubbles, building a sense of security, until it breaks after a differing opinion enters as promoted by platforms, driving conflict, through the angered responses of users.

11:18 if i had to guess i would say it didn’t do well because of the stigma around being a kpop fan. I didn’t watch that video because I have no interest in becoming a kpop fan. If you did country or jazz two genras I don’t listen to but have nothing against id still watch it out of curiosity. With kpop the way some of its fans act turns away a lot of people. I also have listened to kpop before and I’ve never enjoyed it partly because of the people who made me listen to it were very much not my favorite people and are no longer in my life

hey mic, do you think you could do "learning to like bollywood/tollywood/kollywood/etc"? i think it'd kinda be a good conversation about how integrated india's music and film industries are and the implications of that.

I might be in the minority here but I LIKE WATCHING THE TRADITIONAL FORMAT TOP TEN ALBUMS VIDEOS!

I like the little drum roll bumper between entries and the mysterious introduction before the name drop! Mic, I don't skip ahead because I LIKE THE WAY YOU PRESENT EACH ALBUM! IT'S DRAMATIC AND EXCITING AND I'M ALWAYS SAT AND LISTENING!

Just a little bummed that the thing I enjoy the most about your AOTY videos is something that other people don't show as much appreciation for.

Would you ever want to do another video on Kpop? Maybe a video based different Kpop producers discographies? My favorite Kpop producers are Brave Brothers, Black Eyed Pilsung (BEP), and Shinsadong Tiger, but there are so many more that have contributed significantly to the sound of Kpop and the building of the genre, especially in regards to its growing expansion and popularity.

Mr. The Snare, thank you SO MUCH for answering my question(s)!! I was just listening to this video while doing other stuff but @41:53, I excitedly rushed over to my screen! You're the best. And yes, indeed: BIG.

While I'm here: I regret not acknowledging in my original comment how much work you put into this channel. You script, edit, and execute such brilliantly crafted videos. I think when I asked the question, I unintentionally made it sound a little too much like "the magic is in the equipment." Please know that I don't think that's the case 😭
    Hope you see this.

    Thanks again!!

I love the idea about doing an alternative scenes roadtrip series of vids! A good example would be checking out the bluegrass music scene in Knoxville, TN.

Kpop has a fast turn over rate so trends and anything revolutionary by the time someone makes a video it's like too late however I would love to continue seeing your take on the genre for the years of 2024

The Folie Γ  Deux soundtrack rapidly became my most listened album of all time, so I’m veryyy excited for your Joker video. it’s severely misunderstood, and a total masterwork πŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’š

57:14 so I'm a student and I use Spotify free cuz I can't really afford a subscription rn. Also Spotify like "saves" music to your device so like u can still listen to music if u just turn on your mobile data without actually having mobile data. It's like a cool glitch I found BUT I am just sick of Spotify in general. I really want an alternative to Spotify yt music just ain't it when will there be a competitor to Spotify 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
