If Niel would've wanted his legacy continued, you'd think he would've provided input on who he thunk should be his designated successor. She's good, I'm not aware if she's needed, its not Rush anymore.

One of my favourite drummers who I have followed on Youtube since I was 19 and I'm now 30 ,its incredible that she's the new drummer of Rush awesome. Even know i'm a metal and black metal drummer I always loved her music and drum technique she's incredible really good one of the best drummers I have seen. I would say her music is really good too always l love watching her play . I think anika is going to do an awesome job for Rush and she deserves it

She's got mad skills but not very musical. Seems to prefer the "Nothing Is Out Of Time" mode. Of everything I've seen she has never held a groove more than a few measures, plenty of tricky polyrhythms but no groove.

She's a great drummer and I wish "RUSH" the best but I'll never watch, listen, or buy anything. Nothing personal. For me, RUSH died with Neil. Renaming the band would be pretty cool. No need to trash me in the comments…just the opinion of a 58-year-old purist/drummer.

Objectively I think Anika's style is way more complex than anything Neil ever did. I think her learning Rush music will be a piece of cake for her. It's way less complex than the stuff she's been doing on her own.

She certainly has the chops to do the gig – I think she is a great choice in that her feel seems a little different than Neil's, and that is a good thing. I have said this before (and been flamed for it), but I actually think that she brings a smoothness to the drums that Neil did not (he played amazing parts but he sometimes looked like he was really working hard at it – Anika sometimes seems amazingly smooth in her fills). One thing that I believe is that Neil's drum compositions are amazing, timeless, and a huge part of Rush's sound. And, they were (in the rock and roll world) innovative as not many people sounded like him. But, in the end, they are not always that hard to play for other talented drummers. I have heard solid-but-not-epic drummers nail those fills and time changes and it is a reminder that the parts are coverable by others. Sort of like Eddie Van Halen – to many, he sounded like no one on the planet (even though he did not invent tapping). But, now, you can find a dozen videos of people nailing "Eruption" and we can see how innovative parts can be learned and copied by others – they are not unplayable by others. So, in the end, I am sure she can cover the well-known parts, but she will bring a new flavor as well. Which is great IMHO!

I know that I'll get hate, she has nice chops, however. Some of the videos I've seen. She kinda loses groove. She trys to put in stuff that just does not work, timing wise. It's just what I hear. I wish her luck & success. Lord knows, she has gotten farther in this biz, than I ever did.

I can not wait to hear her and them together. I've seen Rush live several times in my life. Had to stand in a chair to just be able to see them in Greensboro, NC for Moving Pictures and again for Signals. I hope I get to see Alex Geddy and now Anika. She sounds so good. I'm over 60, so I hope soon. Ya know…
