Also the extra physician demand is not being met by hospitals due to the private equity trying to replace MDs with PA/NPs and pocketing the difference in cost.

We can't drive very far down the highway without paying tolls. Some of which add up to large amounts for tight budgets. No more drive the highway as a public good. Same rationale with .. education, pay banks high interest for college loans , unlike when America was great by funding education. And health care to keep our workers fit enough to work. Now it's individual duty to avoid .. getting sick or hurt. No group effort .. so that we assist the ultra wealthy to get more ultra wealthy.

    MAGA: healthcare is too expensive!
Also MAGA: we need to completely eliminate billions of dollars of funding to medical facilities and professional training. Especially rural related funds. Not important.

As a type 1 diabetic this is the most personally concerning thing about the trump regime for me. Everything else is horrible don’t get me wrong. But as a white man with diabetes this is the thing that I feel personally afraid for.

I worked in healthcare in my early adult life and resources were stretched back then as well. Even without the recent cuts. It has to do with having a for-profit healthcare system. Hospitals, nursing facilities, home health agencies, etc. are almost always more concerned with how much money they can make per patient, per bed filled. The lower they can keep costs, the better the profit margins are, and this translates into some good bonuses for upper management. These are not given to the floor staff who provide the hands-on patient care and the floor staff have to make do with less and less. I find it abhorrent that many people are happy to defend this system in the name of "freedom", but I'd like to be free of inflated, outrageous medical costs. I don't even want to imagine as to how bad things are bound to get.

rural province is a bit condescending. Manitoba has cities to. 😉 That said I ADMIRE your work. It takes courage to do what you do. You (and others like you) are the resistance. love from up north

Rewatching this two weeks later: My doctor of 16 years put in her 3 month notice the moment Trump was re-elected. I’m sure she did leave. I don’t blame her. I’m still scared. Also my gastro that saved my life when no one would listened to me and proved I was sick and put me on a feeding tube, he’s an immigrant and all the doctors in his practice are also immigrants form the Middle East that practice Islam. The best doctors I know have either left or are in imminent danger now and I am horrified. I’m also 7 weeks pregnant, just to make everything feel more hopeless.

Im no longer trying to have conversations with maga people. Let them get cozy in their own graves at this point. But I am genuinely wondering how this makes us great or puts Americans first? Or will they only care once memaw is on her last oxygen tank or last badge of insulin?

Immigrants who are Drs will always bee something we need. And personally, one saved my life, as an infant who needed open heart surgery. These people save lives. They are still human beings and worth a hell of a lot even if they didn't–but it is added value to our society.

Great info and insight. What is happening is an absolute crime. Please take a breath between ideas, the speed of your speech made it difficult to follow and was anxiety provoking.

I'm sorry but it's about fricking time. Canada has suffered for decades training young doctors on lower cost of education for them to go down to the corrupt US system.

We shouldn't be competing like this (US and Canada that is, and I have passports for both countries so I'm not picking sides here). US needs to fix their shit when it comes to healthcare fees and costs and ditch systems based in libel and misery. Canada needs to implement strong fees for doctors who abuse Canadian education to desert them, The destruction from the US doesn't end at their borders and Canadians have suffered a lot because of the US healthcare system yet they don't charge Americans breaking the law to buy the lower priced insulin.

So Canada is pretty much reclaiming their doctors, that is all this is.

Stop being the selfish sibling, US. The test of the Americas is so sick of your behavior like the spoiled golden child with a bad addiction problem lashing out at everyone. This is why the whole world is rolling their eyes.

    Thanks for teh videos! <3

My school is $125,000 a year just for tuition. At the end of my training I will be over $600,000 in debt. And now my loans aren’t gonna be paid so I now have to take out private loans with ridiculous predatory interest rates. Why the hell did I get into this industry? I did this to help people and be able to provide for my family, not become a debt slave.

My partner lost insurance shortly after the bill got passed. It was heartbreaking seeing their reaction because a lot of the medication they take is life-saving, both in terms of physical and mental health. Especially on the mental health end of things.

Regardless of trump we have a dysfunctional and unsustainable system. Such as pharma, medical and healthcare lobbies monetizing, price fixing and gatekeeping these areas to serious wealth inequality.

The flavor capitalism which America exercises is cannibalistic pyramid scheme which has been packaged as the idea of opportunity. This is how it got people to immigrate and buy into this idea only to realize later how toxic this ideology is.

The instability created by trump can be seen as an indicator of a lack of robustness in an economic system. It is constantly buoyed by government intervention. From manipulating interest rates to bailing out large corporations and banks because they are too big to fail.

Great video. Would add that nurses were already massively over worked but are disappearing at alarming rates. Partly as many boomers either retired or disabled and huge numbers came from India and Philippines, fewer from African countries. RN is the first line of triage, health education and error prevention by tired/inexperienced resident, corrupt insurance. Studies show higher nurse contact decreased re hospitalized, poor outcomes. CMA is NOT the same as RN and increasing mortality is showing that.
I would add to actionable points to become CPR and first aid certified immediately.gwt into basic and advanced disaster life support class ASAP. Easily googled. Make sure you have tetanus with diphtheria and MMR if you want to be around kids under a year, even for short time.
    Thanks for listening
