This loss is especially hard because he was still touring! He even had a string of shows lined up on the West Coast and Southwest. You could tell from his interviews and videos for fans that he loved life and was enjoying his run as a solo artist, so this is really sad to have happened.

To Our Children's Children's Children is such a special album for me. His vocal performance on Eyes of a Child and Candle of Life never fail to give me chills

Thank you for the tribute, I first listened to the MB’s when I was 14, way, way back in 1970, A Question of Balance was the album that I first listened to and understood, generally accepted as one of the first ‘concept albums’ and set my listening from pure pop to LP based bands, Jethro Tull and ELP to name just two.. RIP John fly high and sing celestially well……

I thought of him as a virtuoso. Just A Singer, Story In Your Eyes, Question, definitely demonstrated some chops. Yes, they had an incredible run of seven extremely great albums. Nice piece.

Could you possibly have made this tribute any more BORING? I loved Lidge’s music—grew up with it in the 1979… high school dances featuring “Nights In White Satin,” etc. I intended to repost this for younger friends who may well not know of The Moody Blues—but sadly, 3 minutes into this vacuous video, you’d already wasted far too much of your listener’s time. I’ve made my living as a professional writer for 48 years and Rule #1is:
DO NOT WASTE YOUR READER’S ( or listener’s) TIME!

Thank you for this tribute. As great as they were, the Moodies were sometimes almost an afterthought in the list of the world’s great bands. But not for me. Upon hearing “Every Good Boy Deserves Favour” as a teen, I became a huge fan and John’s songs are among my favorites. A truly lovely man and a vastly underrated bass player (check out those solid, moving bass lines in the core-7 albums and after), his contributions to that great band were huge. Sincere condolences to his family and loved ones and Godspeed to him.

An essential part of the Moody Blues- good bass, excellent harmonies, good songwriter- he will be missed like the other departed group members. They were an important band that created a very fine run of albums from 67 to the early 70s. I saw them at the 1970 IOW festival- they were incredibly good……

John Lodge was not a founding member of the Moody Blues… both he and Justin Hayward were brought in as the "new boys" after Clint Warwick and Denny Laine left.

More sad news about another legend in the rock world. Thank-you Pete for this great tribute to John. I love the Moody Blues and he was an integral part of the band. RIP John Lodge, go spend some time up in that Great Gig in the Sky with Ray, Mike and Graeme. 🙏❤

Thank you Pete! I saw the Moodies in 1980 and 2016 and unfortunately, we weren't able to make it to the John Lodge tour which included a venue near us in WI this year. It was Lodge night at our home last night. John put out 5 new songs earlier this year that are laid back and really good, almost like he knew something. What a wonderful musician!

    Well done .
He also made Blue Jays , the excellent album with Justin Hayward .
It is every bit as good as the classic Moody Blues albums .
    RIP Mr. Lodge .

Thanks again Pete for a wonderful tribute to a lovely bloke. His smiling face & down to earth manner were a source of great pleasure as I watched their later live performances. RIP John Lodge. ❤

Thanks for the tribute to John Lodge and the Moodies. Loved all those old lps a lot. I was fortunate to see them at Toronto's Maple Leaf Gardens on their 7th Sojourn tour. What a show! RIP John Lodge. Cheers

Nice tribute Pete. Just a small correction. John was not a founder member of the Moody Blues. He replaced original founder member and bassist Clint Warwick. Joining around the same time was Justin Hayward, who replaced original vocalist, guitarist and co-founder Denny Laine, to make what is generally considered to be the classic line-up. The rest, as they say, is history. Those trio of albums they put out in quick succession in the late 60s – ISOTLC, OTTOAD and TOCCC – man, it really doesn't get much better than that. RIP John Lodge. And then there was one…

The Moodies becamecmyball time band since 15 yrs old in 1967 and hearing Nights in White Satin and Tuesday Afternoon..by their new lead vocalist: Justin Hayward! Got my first real part time job in my Junior year of high school. Then brgan buying their albums..including their "seminal seven"! From 1967-1972! Justin is my favourite vocalist of all time also. Though there are a couplevhandfuls of other artists.. mainly males..one female that I came to love also! Named..Enya! What an Ethereal Voice! I appreciate the posters video tribute here..to John!
However..this is the 2nd time today that I have heard him being a "founding member"! Which is not true! As many people on here know: He and Justin.."came on board" after the original lead singer..Denny Lane..and the original Bass guitarist..Clint Warrick? Spelling? Both left the band! John is a 2nd generation member! Along with the other 3 founding members! They flew to the moon and far beyond after these 5 wrote and recorded albums that included..songs that held very deep meaning to millions and millions of fans since then until today!

So sad, one of my top 5 bands is down to 1 surviving member, Justin Hayward. So many great songs written by John and one of my favorites is One More Time to Live from the Every Good Boy album. RIP and thank you John.
