I love Mastodon. And this truly gutted me when I heard 4 days ago. Thank you for this Pete I actually did not know you were Down with the 'Don. Not the way it was supposed to play out. He was going to do his thing for awhile, they were going to keep going in the meantime lots of shit being talked but bottom line is I KNOW that he would have come back and that shit would be more epic than ever. That candle burned way too bright I guess?……..❤ R.I.P. Brent

🤔 it's sort of funny the last living memory in his lifetime was Mastodon going down like a Led Zeppelin at Back To The Beginning with the audience along with other bands on the bill that audience's in Europe South America & 🇯🇵 didn't want to see at the festival it was an event for 🇺🇲 & a certain element in 🇬🇧 the surprise on the day far more 🇬🇧 traditional Metal Heads than I'd realised still existed in 2025 wholly unimpressed with the line up from Bobby Liebling & Pentagram to the biggest Black Sabbath collector in the 🎶 industry Lief Edling of Candlmass both those band deserved along with many others to be playing at the event not the 🇺🇲 & 🇫🇷 💩 we got served up 💡 I get they had to sell pay per view that being the case stick AC/DC on the bill & Sharon should have made up with Iron Maiden & have them showcase the best of 🇬🇧 the Winston Churchill Aces High intro was made for such an occasion my conclusion Post Grunge musician legend to some wrong market place as your final bow such is life 🙄

Worst part is the night before I heard about his passing, I was out walking and just JAMMIN to Once More Round the Sun and Cold Dark Place, looking like a crazy person.

Gotta say that he had my personal favorite vocals of the three. Unbelievable guitarist as well. Really sad how it all played out with him and the band. Rest in peace, Brent.

The one band that united me and all my friends. He will be sorely missed by fans and fellow musicians alike. Spiral up through the crack in the sky, Brent!

After riding for 45 years (starting as a kid), I got rid of my motorcycles a few years back. Too many idiots on the road. Too many close calls. RIP Brent.

I was hoping that when he left he would return at some point. Then I read all the exchanges in the media by him and my thoughts quickly moved to expecting some great solo work. Now we get this news. My heart goes out to his family. terrible news.

A very sad thing – and actually a sad situation with him for a long time. He clearly struggled with a lot of things. Someone whose difficulties perhaps contributed to his musical talent, which was unique and undeniable. His solos sound like no-one else.

"Fallen from grace cause I been away too long

Leaving you behind with my lonesome song

Now I'm lost in oblivion" — Mr. Hinds, I'll keep your lonesome songs to the closest corner of my heart…

Never been huge on Mastodon really. But I really liked his side effort 'The Legend of the Seagullmen' and been waiting for them to do something else for almost 10 years now.. Guess it'll never happen. I actually thought he might re-ignite it post his departure from Mastodon.

    What a shame.
