    The Tyler Perry Video

    V.003 Patch notes-

-Mistakenly left in an audio track of some unused takes at one of the most important parts of the video 😢

Had ro mute segments using the "Its fine to cross dress for Jesus" from the Boondocks episode. This was really weird cause they flagged it as a song but not a video. Someone at Sony (or more likely one of these vulture "copyright police companies" is trying to steal money off the video. The last one was Sony too.

    V.002 Patch Notes-

Removed copyrighted music (this hurt😢. There were some great needpe drops. The original music selections are in the Nebula Version)

    – Fixed a few embarrassing flubs.

    Thats it.

I'm so fucking sad that Tyler Perry has a child. No child should have a parent like that and I have a feeling the child is going to bear a lot of resentment for him and people around himself not doing enough to protect a child from a man like that.

2 months late, just seeing the video. This was good. One strange, random as fk aside, I got a cousin that calls both of his parents by their first names. He's done so entire life. The first time we heard him do it we all jumped up, grabbed him by the mouth and looked his mom in the face with terror in our eyes. Thinking she's about to unleash hell on us but nothing happened. Turns out, that's just how he talked to his parents. As of writing this, I'll be for 40 this year and to this day, it's always been wild to me why that was even a thing. I mean that moment really made me question a lot of these "rules" that we grew up with, in our households. My uncle and his wife didn't burst into flames or melt into a puddle of goop when he called them by their names. Nothing happened, so why tf were the rest of the old folks so up in arms about it?

For years, Spike Lee has been colorist against black women
As a matter of fact, most female lead actors are seldom as dark as their male leads. Especially if they play romantic partners. And forget music videos.
Black women are largely ignored and/or gaslit when they complain about colorism.
So I am kind of amazed that there would be this kind of uproar about Perry's colorism with black men.

"late stage capitalism"… Are you dreaming of its demise, hoping for something better?
Its all too rich as you sit there "providing your service" in exchange for a mega corporation handing you a penance.
Good luck to you in your post capitalism fantasyland.
Or… just move to China! You'll love it there!

Thank you for taking the time to make this. Just discovered you today and loved every minute of this essay. Every day I'm also reminded that I need to sub to Nebula. Youtube's Algorithm is pushing an indy streaming platform on me. My mind is blown.

Excuse me, I don't know what you're talking about when it comes to light skin men… Because of these depictions of light skin love interest and artists, I grew up in a France and Cameroon in a context where light skin men were all the rage. As I grew older and deconstructed I am more into extremely dark skinned men, but I'm not sure most women at the time were all about dark skinned men.

I want you to know that the exact reason I clicked on this video was after reading the title, I glanced at the video length and audibly laughed. The length was what brought me in. Never apologize for long ass video essay, especially one that's this good.

I always thought Terry crews's character in white girls or white chicks, whatever it was called, was supposed to be Tyler Perry and Sean Combs. Kind of put together. Kind of gay very racist dresses in white

I’m only on part 1—I’m going to keep commenting as I watch each part.

I remember being in 3rd grade and learning about slavery. It hurt me so much—I didn’t even want to learn about it. It also affected how I saw white people. For a while, it made me feel like every white person was evil and that I always had to watch over my shoulder. I was raised in the South, and colorism is a real thing.

My whole family is dark-skinned except me, but I didn’t realize that when I was younger. I just saw myself as Black. But as I learned more, I started noticing how classmates looked at me, and I also began to see the colorism within my own family, even though I didn’t fully understand it at the time.

When I was younger, I moved between all kinds of friend groups—white, Mexican, Asian, and Black—and I thought that was normal. As I got older, my younger sister pointed things out to me. She was being bullied for being dark-skinned, and I started to realize she was facing things I wasn’t because of my skin tone.

I know this is not the point of the video but I just wanted to comment that.

Bro I'm a 28 year old white guy and (I know this is not the point of this video) I have said for years what a WASTE of an IP static shock is, I loved that show couldn't wait to get home from school to watch. Actual drama and plot lines. Great show, really miss it.

He built his studio in the poorest neighborhood of ATL, despite being from New Orleans, LOUISIANA where we need all the hope we can get.. crazy 😂. Love his success though. That just caught me off guard
