It's so wild how different reality tv is now compared to the 00s. Like yeah, some contestants are still cutthroat and competitive but nowhere near as terrible as they were back then. I feel like mid-2010s people were tired of everyone just being awful to eachother. Also if the producers could exploit someone's mental disorder or difficulties they just saw it as a bonus.

I saw this growing up as it came out. I watched the first season as it came out, then when the second season came out I stopped watching because I thought it was dumb. lol

I used to watch this religiously, and was sad when Carradine had that accident (and concerned for his health) and the show was cut short. No season 4. . . .

Man, this show came out when I was really young, and I was obsessed with the idea. I know the concept seems so cringy, but it really felt validating seeing these contestant in the spotlight, even if some of them have some less than charming qualities to them. I'm genuinely beyond grateful for this show, though, because Joshua Wittenkeller sort of became my idol growing up, and I even got the opportunity to meet him and get a card signed by him during the Pokemon World Championships 10 years ago! I learned about his channel through this show, and then found his gaming channel and have since fallen in love with Spelunky, a game I only learned about because I watched him play it. It's such a niche thing in the grand scheme of the world, but Spelunky and The JWittz have brought such comfort to me throughout my life that I never would've gotten if it weren't for this show.

Did you not realize that the hosts of this show are two of the stars of the movie "Revenge Of The Nerds", where dude's character is 'famous' for that horse laugh? The other guy also had the honor of co-starring in the classic "Risky Business", where he delivered the all-time classic line "Sometimes, you know, you just gotta say 'what the fuck'". Two guys who's entire careers were defined by their nerdiness.
