I don't know if i don't believe bands that announce retirement or i just don't see it as the death of the band. Seeing live bands that are pillars in my love of metal is important to me. i certainly make sure i try my best to see bands that come to my area. Especially if they are really important to me. However, i don't necessarily believe that its the last time i will see them. As well as Black Sabbath, i will forever regret not seeing RJD live. RIP.

Your Hears riff is perfect. What a perfect track to promote your sponsorship. Its an earworm that lets me know exactly what is coming.

Don't believe the hype on any of these bands, most will stop playing/recording when they're dead.
Haven't listened to much Ministry in quite some time even if have most of their collection; missing everything before A Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste as methinks early Ministry before that sucks ass. Did see Ministry in 2004ish and they were great. Thank you Jon.

I want to like Ministry’s newer stuff a lot more than I actually do. The last song of theirs that really grabbed me was “Ghouldiggers" off of Relapse (the riff is absolute 🔥), but that’s coming up 15 years ago.

I think Anthrax will continue until Scott Ian physically cannot play. Looking at him now (saw them on both the For All Kings and Slayer tours) he looks like he’s in fine physical fettle, so it could be a while. TBH, I don’t think any of the current Anthrax lineup has ever had the kind of high-risk personal lifestyle that Jourgensen (and etc.) indulged in – and you can see that in how Al looks much older than Joey, despite only being a couple or three years older.

Al announced a couple years ago, after the last album, that he was only doing one more Ministry. This is not a new announcement, and he said a couple years ago Paul would contribute on the new one. But he made it clear that he was not retiring from music, he just wants to do other stuff while he has time. He was saying last year "It's time to grow up" he then removed all his facial piercings. I read Al's book a couple years ago, that was a hard read, and he said in his book he loves being in the studio and creating music, but he hates touring. He's never liked it, even during their peak years, and it shows in recent performances where he is clearly, lazily, lip syncing. He just seems bored of it all. I can't recommend Al's book, unless you want to read the unfiltered confessions of a junkie, which is what it was just drugs, sex, and how much he hated Paul. I haven't read anyone talk about their drug use that much since Dave Mustaine's book,. He talked about how much Henry Rollins didn't like him lol. Henry just looked down on Al as a junkie, and Rollins hates drugs and views people who take them as weak.

Slayer is playing these shows bc they get a big payoff for these shows, without they can’t retire.. Just like most of these bands they can’t afford to retire, just listen to a Gary Holt interview or Dave Ellefson.. There is no big 4, it’s just a big 1, who had a diamond album and 3 other platinum albums. Then Megadeth had 1 platinum in Rust and a 2x plat in Countdown. Slayer had 3 gold albums and Anthrax has no certifications except the single I’m the man which went platinum and killed their career.. There’s no money in this music unless you have multiple bands to keep touring or popular enough to stay on the road. The German thrash bands all are huge overseas, in shows and sales. Point being the US Big 4 is not real, and Testament & Overkill don’t even come close to the sales of the others which is way less than I would have thought. I always thought these bands were huge, so it puts into perspective all my underground bands and why they all tour and guest in multiple projects..

You get a lot of metal bands (and some other bands as well) who use the term: "indefinite hiatus". It's a way of saying: "we're not retired or broken up, but we're not making music right now."
Maybe the bands that say they're going to retire should just say that. At least we as the fans know when and if they'll make music again.
Another great example of a metal band calling it quits is Type O Negative, after the death of the late great Pete Steele.

Can we talk about the fact Ministry released an AI slop music video for the first single off the album, even after Jourgensen claimed to stand against that bullshit? They're shadowbanning comments calling them out for it so I guess I'll have to spread the word here. They used to be my favorite, that is the one thing they could have done to get me to disavow them forever!

I got to see Black Sabbath twice. I regret not getting to see Ozzy with Zakk though. Bands do what bands do is my opinion on the whole retirement deal. Just enjoy the music and the journey it takes you on.

Thank you for the video, Jon! 🤘
I guess we'll see. Right now we get "Hate To Go", maybe after some time we'll get "Hate To Return" 😂
And also, don't you dare apologize for diving deep into things (2:38)! That's why you're called "heavy metal philosophy", we're here to dive deep and talk philosophy! 😎🤘

Where I am, there is an ampitheater in the middle of a beach with nothing around for miles. The good thing is that you can hear the show just fine and see the big screen easily while hanging out in the parking lot or chilling in the tidal area next to the venue. It was my only chance to see Soundgarden and I'm glad I did it.

@heavymetalphilosophy great analysis dude👊🏾, even I had my own theory where legacy bands keep coming back as a symbolic middle finger to the current garbage being played by Top40 music radio today…but that's me lol🤘🏾
