The Dark Story Behind Blind Melon’s St. Andrew’s Fall

Who Blind Melon was as a band often gets pigeonholed with “No Rain” and the Bee Girl video. But that read is inaccurate. Dig deeper into their music and you’ll discover a depth not often found in the 90s alt rock scene. “St. Andrew’s Fall” off their 1995 album Soup is a perfect example. This is the story of that song. It’s a story of a monitor mix argument, a Detroit hotel rooftop, and the worst tour night of Blind Melon’s legacy, right up until the one where we lost frontman Shannon Hoon.
