Hm I am nit the biggest deathcore fan bjt I like pray for plagues. And I actally realy like the old versions production.
The modern version sounds way to overproduced (eg. the leads almost sound midi because they are so perfect and the drumms are very over the top productionwise)

I LOVE the original recording of CYB. Yes it's raw and rough around the edges but to me it ffeels like I'm listening to them plsy live and I love that. The vocals snd guitars are so prominent too.

I'm not understanding the hype for this. It sounds completely computerized, the drums sound laughably fake. Modern overproduction that strips the soul from the original.

Definitely gunna be in the minority here but honestly i like the original album as a whole better. The guitar is pretty drowned out by the drums and booming bass. A lot of subtle guitar parts were cut out and it isn’t as clear. For example black & blues solo, you can barely hear it compared to the original track, except for the last couple seconds. Honestly the only track that sounds legit better is medusa imo

Never a big fan of their og release nor their more modern sound either, yet this rerelease feels modern sounding without losing their deathcore edge. Solid work.

The rawer unedited sound or early 2000s deathcore is the only deathcore I can stomach, so them giving their debut album a modern overproduced glow up doesn't do much for me

I love an they're styles, but my music taste is pretty schizo NGL. My neighbours probably think I'm having some kind of episode with my nutty playlists.😂
Jordan fish had nothing to do with their change in sound btw, that was an Oli decision, why he invited him to join, Jordan actually thought he went too far with amo and thought it was a bad idea. It's just a coinkidinc that they weren't heavier after he left.
Great review btw. Love this StubHub in both forms

Not really a fan of these guys or the first album, but this release is definitely an improvement on most fronts.

That said, whoever decided that modern deathcore mixing should have the drums cranked way up and sound like they're exploding half the time needs to be exiled for crimes against humanity. It's a shame because the mix is otherwise great.

Cool re-recording . I really hope this sound tho isn’t influencing future albums as a band they have become so much better song writers this album is cool but feels very basic in comparison to later material. Dehumanized while fine is probably the weakest song they’ve written in a decade so I really don’t want more of that.

I'm so curious what I'm not hearing in the new recording. It sounds quite bad to me. Really loud drum shells, the cymbals are mostly inaudible white noise, the drums aren't programmed that well and are robotic, the guitars a really fizzy. Someone help me, because I would still take the original over this every time. I can hear everything nicely in the original and it sounds like a deathcore band, though it's not the greatest recording in the world.

It only took BMTH 20 years to go back to it's roots and boy, Oli Sykes' screams matured and use more safer methods to make it more vicious. Glad they are going back to their roots, even for just a while.

I'm 100% certain it's just the nostalgia on my part but I really like this album. I'm one of those people that completely dropped BMTH when they stopped doing deathcore so hearing them comeback to it feels great. Dehumanized is a great track as well, has a nice hook to it. The album has that modern production sound, very "wall of sound-y" but it is what it is and I think this is a good one all things considered.

I’m a fan of all of their changes over the years but dehumanized is in my top 10 favorite songs they’ve ever written and certainly one of my favorite death course songs even if they don’t go full death core again I hope that they use this energy in their next album.

This is how you do a re-recording. Oli said on tour he didn’t expect people to support this as much. I can see why since that was so long ago but definitely fun while yes it’s kinda too clean it opens the can to dip back into the harder style

Hey metal trenches, I wanted to thank you for your great content. Happy to have found someone that listen to a very wide spectrum of metal.

As for this album I am curious to listen to it.

sounds TOO CLEAN. the original's raw and organic indie sound not only remains HEAVIER and more ACTIVE, it is a better mix over all, new version, just could have been a new song in general
