Oh my goodness, Elena, Melanie… this was such a biting, necessary, perceptive, hilarious, trenchant and dead-on accurate take on both this profit maximizing spectacle of a propaganda film series, as well as the passive-aggressive Canadian colonizer Cameron himself. I now understand precisely the slimy feeling I had after having sat through ~180 minutes of it. Thank you so much comrades! Onward to collectively trashing Installment #4 of this racist, appropriative Frankensteinian Zombie Salad of Indigeneity in 2029… ❤🤎✊🤣

This might sound weird but I really think that what you're talking about with Cameron could also be described as indigenous orientalism. Like, Cameron fetishizes indigeneity and takes what aesthetics he wants from a plethora of nations around the planet, deprives them of cultural and historical context and then shoves it into his blue cat movie where all the white people get to be native too. It really gives me the same vibe as to what Edward Said was talking about with how the west views the "exotic and mysterious orient". Taking a liking to the vibe and aesthetic but ripping it from its meaning and context in order to warp it into something white people can fetishize. Felt very "Lawrence of Arabia" if that makes sense. Sorry if this seems like out of nowhere it was just a thought that popped up during the conversation and I wanted to share it. Anyway, great job as usual guys!
Can't wait for Cameron to introduce us to snow-based cat people where he shamelessly rips off the Yupik or Sami or something.

I'm getting a slight suspicion the maybe Jungian inspired "metaphysics" of the "hyperindigenous" settler is a variation on the "hero journey" trope, "after strorming ahead in the intellectual, rational aspects creating science and modern civilization it's time to 'reconnect' with the grounded, humble and spirituall primitive roots" personified in indigenous people so it rounds the modern man spearheading progress to a holistic being on a higher level, actually surpassing those who never left their state of "connectedness".
They get "indigeneity" after doing some "reconnecting" but can the "primitives" really catch up? So repulsive

If "hypermasculine" is full blown violent knucklehead "masculine" is at least halfwitted and only slightly physically aggressive? haha
Fun fact: The term "bimbo" that is often associated with "hyperfemininity" is in German the equivalent to the n-word. However that came to be

This movie was so trash, it made me analyse the other two movies and realise they're trash too!

I love how you've clearly put more thought into the world of Avatar than James Cameron

Wow that was a fascinating critique… I usually just listen and learn as all of TRN content is thought provoking….52:00 Epiphany in real time{like geometric symbols rapidly falling into place…35:35 easy peasy{you too can gain access to Indigenous Spirituality just lay with an Indigenous woman..Is this B4 or after they do drugs (gawd how they luv, need their drugs) and have wild sex? 31:54…26:38 Ancestors{I teared up..No they're my ancestors! I will never know what tribe I come from. You successfully severed me from them…Had it not been for x3 chance encounters with Indigenous Holy Man….ty

Thank You for this critique. I never really understood the Zombie garbage, don't care. Not a fan of this either since the first movie I saw so many Hijackings of Indigenous Purviews in the first movie. Def. Tacky.
