Li Shang from Mulan is a perfect combo of male and female gaze. He’s a ripped, square jawed military commander, very appealing to the male gaze. He also deeply respects Mulan as his equal, the same way he’d respect another man, since he thought she was one. The appeal of monsters is that they're outsiders who don't fit in with societal norms, and are also associated with queerness, similar to villians (like Loki for example)
So people who also fit into these boxes, like monsters because they feel more relatable then hero type characters.
Also as a women I like types like Loki Laufeyson, deadpool, Jack hartness, Orihara Izaya, Hank Green, and the Click, when it comes to men, maybe it's because I'm bisexual myself but I love chaotic bisexuals!

So you do understand. Everything you described, in passion, about the priest is what women would love in men/male characters. You loved that it was so romantic. Women would love that as well.
It's the way the man treats others, especially the way he treats women. How he would notice and care about the little things, how soft and gentle he is, how genuine he is, how protective and loving he is, etc. Appearance could come after that. And unlike what men think, women don't really need men to be big and ripped like Thor or Captain America. Preferences will vary, but women actually prefer a bit more slimmer physique (women like pretty men than hyper masculine type). Muscular but slim, like Loki! And there's not even a need to have his body exposed like he did in the Loki series. Loki was already so popular and not once you'd see his skin exposed like that in the previous movies.
9:32 What you said about 'he's like the forbidden fruit' is what I believe can be tied back to the 'women love monsters' thing. So, these 'monsters' are usually humanoid and anthropomorphic. They are like a different race from you, so to say. And what this creates is the taboo relationship. The 'we-can't/shouldn't-be-together', obstacle between their love. This would create drama and conflict in the story, and it could also be used to show how much love there is between the two as they try to be together despite their relationship being forbidden/different race/species.
Another reason could be how people find exotic looking beings attractive, just like you think Kida from Atlantis is hot.
I'm sure men like 'monsters' as well if the gender was flipped. Vampires, that are often depicted as sexual and alluring, not to mention they're eternally youthful, succubi (no explanation needed), mermaids (literally half fish), demons/devils with horns and wings. Don't know if they'll like werewolves but what about if they were partly animals/having some animal features like just having cat ears and tails? (seeing how you mentioned about Judy Hopps being hot…yeah.)
Lastly, Mr Darcy is NOT hideous! My god.
