the ending was probably the best way to end this lovely movie. I usually don't like open endings but for some reason, just before the end, I was praying for one and you did not disappoint! ❤️ great work as always

Wait wait wait wait, is the implication that the old presentation was still showing as he turned on the TV so Kylie saw the version with Ted & Sarah?

Came back to watch this after seeing the Email. An expertly made and acted short film that perfectly captures the horrific discomfort of a dysfunctional toxic friend group, especially in contrast to how normal and reasonable Kylie is. Relationships and people are complicated but watching these guys is so painful, 11/10, amazing

Came for the oneshot, stayed for the pure awkward energy. My stomach is in a knot with the exceptional secondhand embarrassment I'm getting. All of the acting is exceptional, and it was a sigh of relief having Kylie show how ridiculous it all was. Absolutely stellar

Just saw The Email. Didn’t realize there were two before it I’ve never seen. Gonna be a good day. God bless you Joel, love these little films. You’ve gotten better and better every year.

loveddd the piano in this it set the tone of the opening so well… and also the implication that the app somehow was actually predicting his death lmao

Getting Francesca in was such a refreshing decision! The acting by the guys was phenomenal, but I couldn't stand the awkwardness and insecurity that they were expressing – I know a lot of people feel this way also in their 20s and 30s, but it personally took me back to my teenage years. And very accurate. But Francesca coming in and acting all natural but mature, was so nice – and the change in 'Ted' going from immature boy to confident man, who can take critique and playfulness from his new girl without having to defend himself, was cute, and I genuinely felt that they deserved each other. I wish that you would have cut just 8 seconds earlier, to end on the comfort between the two, instead of letting it fade into uncertainty, because the above described shift was in my opinion enough, and I didn't need a last second shift again. That is just my view, and some unrequested constructive criticism. ALSO; no cuts?! WTF! Insane job, bravo. I was constantly waiting for a hidden cut, but didn't notice any!

This movie was so good!!! The build up before the text, and then holding it back from the audience even as the characters read it was perfect. The characters all felt so real and like they all had their own stuff going on. The several character-driven total vibe shifts were incredible. I’ll be thinking about this one for awhile. I watched and really enjoyed Pretend That You Love Me last year and that also stuck in my brain for months after too. You’re really talented Joel! I’m gonna let this one marinate but I’m looking forward to watching more of your films

Hi Joel, idk if you'll ever read this, but I sent a text to my ex recently and my depression is murdering me and my mental health. Wasn't sure if my text would land with her and my anxiety was so bad I shut off notifications and avoided looking at her text for 2 days now, afraid she'd annihilate me. But I watched this short and got the balls the look at how she responded.

Love the foreshadowing when he said his hands were full and then….drops the can. Masterclass in suspense, totally out the left field. I mean when you think it's gonna zig you go right ahead and zag. 😍

i have to say, these movies of yours fell like interactions between real people that could have happend in real life, the hole time i was watching it, i kept forgetting that this entire thing was acted, it just felt incredebly real. I am extreamly impressed. Loved it. 🙂

Man Jacob’s character gets to me. Dude turns 30, feels like he got lost in his 20s, and decides to jump on his friend for a stupid drunk decision and suddenly make that a problem to focus on instead of himself. And to then subsequently get everyone else to jump in on it when in reality it’s a stupid drunk text you’ll feel weird about and forget it all later. Fucking masterclass character writing, genuinely

I subscribed years ago because of the silly little 5 minute videos and wow look at you now.

My favorite movie director is Yorgos Lanthimos. You just made a short film very reminiscent of my favorite director, and the ending was genius! This is a masterpiece. Your dialogue is so natural, Hollywood doesn’t even come close.

When he said, “okay it’s ready.” I immediately thought FADE TO BLACK FADE TO BLACK! And once it did, I literally screamed “YESSSS!” Confused the hell out of my wife lol.

    Big fan

The app was silly. Actually it was DUMB and "that's a fact". He should've kept his Tinder comment to himself.

Friends who act like the guy in the shorts are the ones you have to watch because they secretly resent you. He's the type that would do something like have an affair with his friends wife or something spiteful like that.

Everyone else was cool. But shorts was crap trying to ruine the date. I'm glad it didn't work. I think he knew his app was dumb and that's why he was so upset.
