It cracks me up when these people want to "remain anonymous" but they don't have their voices distorted and are showing things that make them easily identifiable, like hair that's unique and tattoos

why are you defending “company property” so hard? it’s not your company bro, it doesnt matter. im not saying we should all start destroying these scooters because thats really wasteful and harmful to the environment, but why would you use the angle of “RESPECT MUH PRIVATE PROPERTYYYY!!!!”

    And it won’t work.
There are tons of studies in European countries (Europe has a higher population of people that regularly bicycle) The countries with regulations around specific lanes and helmets are the countries that cycle less. Countries that cycle more (like the Netherlands) don’t have these regulations, people just cooperate with each other better lol

six years later, here's my take:

Electric scooters are amazing, they offer a great transport option and cut down on traffic, but the issue in this situation is the company in specific. They did nothing to authorize them and get them street-legal, nor do they have any measures put in place to penalize those who misuse them. The company should of gotten permission, and in turn I think the breaking of them was deserved. That being said, I don't think it's RIGHT to trash them like that, but at the same time they were put there without authorization.

Also fuck bike lanes in general, they need to be full on paths, bike lanes are way too dangerous and cramped. They also cut parking, and are overall just inconvenient. Actual bike roads are 20 times better, as they give bikers more room to ride and are overall just nicer.

Hey Eddie from 5 years ago: What do we do now that scooter companies lobbied all major cities that they were this new futuristic way of solving first/last mile traffic, but instead it's literally packs of 15 feral Chads riding around with "their boys" just so they can do wheelies, burnouts, and 10% of them are hospitalized to trauma units. Super cool. Lime used to mitigate a bunch of this stuff, where if you reported people doing sketchy shit, they'd get fined or banned. If they left their scooters in an area where they blocked sidewalks or ADA ramps, they'd be issued a parking ticket. Nowadays, Lime waives those fines and tickets so they can uphold a business model that increases their ridership. Fuck safety.

Humans are incredibly selfish creatures, and rideshare is just another way that selfishness is on full display. Lime is acting like they're "too big to fail," and have stopped taking the steps that landed them the contract in the first place.

cyclists and scooterists run red lights as if they are immune to them because they are on a bike or a scooter. it's so bizarre. why do they think they don't have to stop at a red light? screw those a*holes. as a cyclist myself, I stop and wait at the light. I only run stop signs if there is no one in or approaching the intersection.
