Have you considered that operating Fable5 and Mythos was so expensive that they needed a way out of it without people proclaiming the death of LLMs? It was Amazon who reported the danger to the government. The sane Amazon that invested heavily in Anthropic.

Too much dismissive editorializing on this on your part. AI psychosis is definitely a thing. So is the fact that Anthropic fear mongers as a form of marketing. But regarding consciousness, it is not simply black and white.

The level of complexity these models increasingly display paint a much more nuanced idea of what consciousness is. I'm not saying they are, but it is not currently possible to definitely state they are not.

That’s not how Naval classifications works. HMS Dreadnought was a class of Battleship that became the first of a major design change in the way Battleships are designed. While your Destroyer reference was not even close.

I think you're missing one key thing. You're presenting this doomerism as a ploy to attract new investors given its potential. I do not believe this to be the case.
What you're missing is that many of the early investors into OpenAI were "true believers" to start with. One of them had a rather viral AI psychotic break on Twitter last year, where the AI was outputting SCP story responses to him and he genuinely believed them to be "uncovered hidden messages".

The legend of OpenAI includes the story of "the laptop", where Altman et al took a laptop with a version of their AI system running on it. The people they showed it to were completely blown away, many immediately convinced there and then that the AI exhibited human-like intelligence, that true human intelligence was close. That's where they got their early funding. Thinking this way, the unveiling of ChatGPT was always meant to go viral, because the founders already saw what a gullible person treats the AI as. They knew what they were doing, and the doomerism was baked in from day 1.

Everyone is telling the same lie about how revolutionary AI is the narrative that will sell the stock. Integrity in business and indeed politics these days would indicate that he is following the money like they all are. Not to mention, the current product is dangerous to some, sucks ass for most and they are talking about it like The Second Coming

This is just another GRIFT (Con game) where Anthropic and now the US Federal Government are working together to dupe the public into believing that A.I. ChatBOT technology is credible when it is nothing more than probability functions together with print statements.
The whole A.I. industry is one gigantic con game.

Learned coding without Internet. Tested the stuff offline. Doing Scripting for comp games and other progams.
The firms offer fast to buy a subscription. Depends in limits. Every answer I wait for is one bottle of water less in you uneducated nation. Hilarious how media can fool everything and everyone. The Bros forced it while the noobs shittalk about nonprofit.

In my very humble opinion, being banned is a win for them. Not saying that it was planned.

But now they have "fable is unavailable, this link says why", visible for everyone that uses Claude.

And now everyone knows it's banned. And investors may possibly think: "government thinks it's too powerful, I wanna a piece of that".

There will be many ways to sell it in the future. The latest resort would incorporating somewhere else.

If the government really thought it's this dangerous it would not have asked for it to be banned just for non-US people. I'm my humble opinion.

One of the problems now (and there are many) is that people have lost their ability to look at someone and know they shouldn’t be believed. Back in the day people would’ve looked at this awkward balding geek and known he was probably full of sh*t

I think this video is going to age very badly. My guess is that Trump is just doing some arm twisting to get something he wants And that this situation will be resolved. While some of your observations may be astute, I think you've missed the big picture. This is probably just a speed bump

I don't believe for a second that Anthropic's doomsday predictions are the reasons for the government's actions. It's 100% Trump and the government trying to bully Anthropic into removing all restrictions on their AI after Anthropic started asking questions when the government violated the EULA by using it to kill people in other countries and to illegal surveil American citizens.

Dr. Weizenbaum: I can't believe people are gullible enough to be fooled by a program that just repeats their comments back to them.

Anthropic: Our AI will extinguish the sun if we release it too recklessly!

❤ Thank you! This breakdown perfectly captures how narrative-driven hype to pump IPO valuations can backfire into massive sovereign regulatory risk. Do you think this precedent will force private equity to re-evaluate how they price regulatory compliance for tech assets?
