One of my absurd college memories of the song. One Sunday morning I was going to the commons to have breakfast and it was as dead out as you would expect. Except someone in the dorm was playing this song so loud I could hear it the whole 1/4 mile away to the commons.

Big Country had the best sound, the guitar bagpipes sound was awesome. I was baffled by what the video was trying to say. A better video would have given them more mileage and maybe better long term chance.

Wintersky was my intro to this band, randomly heard it on my coworkers phone at work. Loved exploring their work. as a younger dude i love exploring early 80s youth music. Didnt know thats how it ended but Im thankful it exists and he put good tunes and art into the world.

My sister got married on the beach in Florida, and when we got there this guy was playing bagpipes a ways off. We didn't have music planned or playing, and it was a tiny ceremony with just like 10 people present on a public beach, so we didn't think anything of it. But he must have noticed because as she started walking out to the shore in her white dress to meet everyone he started playing the bridal march. 🥹 It was so sweet.

    Aahhh, 1983. I was 13yrs old & loving life & this video/song.
Makes sense as my Scottish ancestors settled in Tennessee where my family still lives.
    Good times, man.
Also, work on the self-loathe, nothing wrong with the album cover or "pasty White" English bands. Lolz.
    Great video, loved it.

The follow up album Steel Town is really good, and yes, “Wonderland” is a truly GREAT song – their best in my opinion too. Thanks for giving Big Country their due 👍
