Bluegrass is in steady hands with Billy Failing. Some folks know him from his years behind the banjo with Billy Strings, but these days he’s riding his own trail. If what you’re hearing here is any indication, he’s carrying the music forward without losing sight of where it came from.

We caught up with Billy a few hours before showtime at Colorado’s storied Planet Bluegrass. Pulled him away from the pre-show drift and wandered out into the open fields and quiet
corners around the grounds for a stripped-down field recording. The mountains were watching, the wind was doing its thing, and Billy brought the songs.
