Ground lighting strikes frequently generate two things, an electromagnetic pulse which messes up the electronic systems and floating, glowing orbs of silicon plasma generated from the superheated ground material – fulgurite ejecta. I have a video on this. These are the result of natural phenomena. The missile logic circuits are designed to shut the missiles down, if something unusual happens, so not to have an accidental launch. Lightning strikes the Earth over 8 million times a day, so that is a lot of throws of the dice to generate weird things.

It's the no engine sound up close when you can make out an actual craft that makes the difference. Saw my first one with all these descriptions including maneuverability around 2002.
2 nights in a row and the lady who's house I was living in had a "dream" greys were around her and she was lifting out of her bed.
Not the only encounters I've had. But the first.
