What i am about to write is PROBABLY not true but their very unlikely defense maybe that movement was in the training data which actually was from a person wearing a HMD? veRRRY unlikely but i think it is feasible.

The question is: why a humanoid robot at all? Surely there are better ways to sort packages that would be cheaper than a robot that you're not using half the features on.
@davidsault9698

I'm not calling this fraud, but I think the whole humanoid robot thing is very close to an expected transition from naivete to outright fraud.

Creating robots to do this kind of crap is so ridiculous. It’s cheaper to pay someone wear a C3PO costume to do this.

This company should have done a little PR and farmed some more clout before trying this. Get the redditors emotionally invested and make them gaslight people who would even think its possible to fake. Like a certain dancing robot video.

8:54 editing. He could have told it to turn around already and it may have lagged so he went to say “turn around” again as it began complying with the first command. This looks bad so they edit it out it post.

Honestly, why do we need humanoid robots? Isn’t the whole point of robots to do things humans can’t or won’t do? In which case is the most optimal design for a robot to be human-like?

so what ? they have to start somewhere.. ads are not honnest. is that still a supprise ? i remember nutella ads who told the parents that nutella contains everything children need to grow up properly. they had a guy in a doctor-outfit explaing how many vitamins and proteins and minerals are in it. like if its the best thing you can eat from a health standpoint.
@hlidskjalf736
June 2, 2026 at 2:36 pm
If the robot was tele operated, then there must be moments when the robot adjusted his junk at least 10 times in an hour. If not, then it was real, case closed 😊

About 90% of the robot videos on the internet are fake. Most are just pure cgi, but remote human control is still used during most "autonomous robot" demonstrations. There is a reason we don't see live robot demonstrations. Funding would dry up if investors knew the truth. Robot companies are trying to fake it, until they make it.

If anything, I am disappointed by the lack of effort in the 200 hour demo. For billions of dollars, they could have afforded two VR tele-operation stations and a hand-off process to make it less obvious.

June 2, 2026 at 2:36 pm
While I'm sure it was at least a partially if not totally faked tele-operated demo, they train these AI models on footage and telemetry from human operators doing the task first and so all those headset-adjust, stance-adjust and change-of-operator movements will inevitably wind up in the training data with enough frequency to happen semi-randomly. Like if you as a human are struggling to get your tele-operation rig to right a box, out of frustration you might fidget with the headset, so the training data "learns" that after repeated failures you put your hand up to your face. But never forget that EVERYBODY fakes demos, even companies that have products that work.
@HWS62

It’s staggering that someone who so clearly lies can be CEO of a company “valued” at $39 billion. Where is the due diligence for these funding rounds?
@OktoPutsch
June 2, 2026 at 2:36 pm
I wasn't sure when I saw the robot acting in the demonstration first time, but you convinced me it was teleoperated, all the clues lead to a single and simple explanation : remote control.

I like the little squares in the faceplate that change position every two seconds so you just know it's thinking high math stuff. In the US, business is pursuing fraud now everywhere as a highly profitable legitimate enterprise. The government has provided a template and protection. As more judges are replaced by loyalists some of those litigation outcomes will defy reality too.
