Mary's actress is gorgeous + looks like the character + judging by these clips can act well, criminally wasted potential. Laura seems so well casted too, I hope this experience doesn't put her off from acting

It's insane to me how someone calling them a true fan.. Misses every single point from the game. Its not even complicated.

Laura – Doesn't see any of the scary creepy stuff because she's innocent.
Angela – Sad/anxiety as fuck
Eddy – Bullied/Feels james talks down to him
Maria – Everything that Mary isn't

Silent Hill is not a real town, is a state of mind. Everything happens in James' mind, none of the characters, except for James, are real. I can make an entire video explaining what the real mythos behind the structure of the game "Silent Hill 2" is but I am too lazy to do it. There is an entire psychology surrounding this game. You pointed right when you said that Angela is "a manifestation of James' repressed trauma", that is exactly what she represents in the game too. James actually is lying in a hospital bed, drooling on the corner of his mouth, surrounded by doctors fascinated by his case, in fact he is a criminal, a murderer, plagued by dissociative identity disorder, he made up a town where his dead wife is writing from and populated by fictive characters. Well, on short, I can portray the other characters: Maria is an ideal figure of his wife, the perfect wife, playful and mysterious, sexual even; Eddie is James when he was younger, fat and traumatized by his own look, he even killed a dog which mean that James was used to killing from before his wife; Laura is the innocent part of Mary, another side of his wife how James perceive her, feeling guilt for murdering her. Pyramid Head is actually the defense mechanism of James, he kills over and over again Maria for what she represents, he hides the fact that this is the real image he wanted to remember his wife and as a guilt he erase Maria from his mind repeatedly but he comes again to this idealized portrayal until he finally comes to terms with what he really did to his wife, accepting he is a murderer, the final boss of the game is his own wife, James switching the moral compass in his mind, transferring to his wife his own qualities, portraying her as a villain and not as a victim, after beating her in the game, the final act is putting her down like a diseased dog, justifying this way the murder.
