Remember when I climbed that Ferris wheel
I gave you quite the surprise
The way you said I made you feel
Didn’t match the look in your eyes

Remember when we saw that old house
Said we’d fix it up good
Take that raggedy hunk of junk
And build a home in the neighborhood

Well I took that old house
And I made it mine
Even built that wrap around porch
With you wrapped around my mind

I got my photo in the paper
It only took me seven years
Holding up my promises
While holding back tears

Remember when you met my old man
He could tell you turned my world around
You took that raggedy silly boy
Right out of the lost and found

I’d be lucky to be half the man
That that man was for me
At the very least I’ll make some plans
And turn them into memories

Well I did just that
Problem is something’s missing
Sitting on that wrap around porch
With you wrapped around my dreams

I wonder if you saw my picture
It was on the front page
I’ve wondered if you’d come back
While wasting away my days

I hope that you saw our new house
With that porch wrapped around
And thought to yourself I miss that boy
The one from the lost and found

Remember when we saw that old house
Snuck in through the front door
I laid out some blankets
And we made love on the floor

I think of that night every day
The memory should get me through
And when the sunlight goes away
So too will you

Joel Haver keeps me up writing poetry
Remembering, remembering that I, too, have the bug
    That creeps and crawls

    Skin isn’t dry
    I’m Waterboy
Wet and weeping all of the things that felt good
    In my youth
    That keep feeling good today
When I remember, remember to flex the muscles

    I want to be somebody

    I remembered, remembered while the muscles flexed;
    While the bug creeped;
While Joel Haver kept me up writing poetry

@Joel-Haver You miss her and thought it would be different. I hear you dude. It can be sad and your song made me thing of those same types of feelings of loss. Its good to share those sad things. Its also good to find the things that have turned out right. You've made me laugh and cry dude. You are a part of everyone who watches you. Things havs turned out right. Keep doing the things you love. We find meaning in it all from the silly to the sad stuff.

I'm having a weird Mandela Effect where I could have sworn I watched this video back in April, not just 4 weeks ago. This summer has gone by so fast, but it feels like months ago since I watched this video. It's so weird realizing how unreliable memory is.

Why did the main character of The Notebook threaten his life climbing the ferris wheel to get her attention? If your friend told someone, "No," multiple times, do you really want this stranger to threaten suicide or breaking both legs to force your friend into a date? Is that romantic? Do you really want your friend in a relationship with someone who can't take a "no" without escalating to threatening violence?

Why did, as a couple, they always fight with each other? Did he do any learning on how to peacefully resolve conflict? Why would she want to go back to a relationship that was full of conflict when her new partner is clearly more mature and knows how to talk stuff out? Why did she give up painting until she started cheating on her fiancee? Was her fiancee in any way stopping her artistic expression? Why did Ryan Gosling's character have to build a mansion on a lakeside property to get her attention? Imagine a guy writing to a girl every day for a year and never getting a reply, then instead of getting the message and moving on he spends 7 years fixing up a mansion hoping it'll get her attention. Imagine a guy doing that with calls or texts to an ex, would you recommend he move on or would you recommend he instead start an expensive multi-year project designed to MAYBE get the attention of the ex one time?

I know it's "just a movie" but it's set in the real world, not a galaxy far far away, yet the decisions characters make are crazy and toxic even for the 1950s.

    This is funny.
    j🧍🏼‍♂️<-look Joel, it’s tiny you!

The video vvas also very creative, adjective, humerous, adective, & heartfelt. You should be proud.

Tiny Joel stole the j from that word between the commas.
    What a rascal.

Haven't seen any other comments mention them but I feel like this has a very Negativland vibe/style to it. Love both the song and visual presentation of the video.

Watching this with my wife and she asked, "Is this about 'The Notebook?'" Scrolling down to the comments, we saw your pinned comment saying this was from your album 'Beating Off in The Notebook House'. So…mystery solved, I guess.

I work on a crisis line for people in distress/wanting to end things. This song makes me cry because it reminds me of all the people who are alone, especially the elderly. They are desperate to talk to anyone, so they call us and literally tell me stories of their best memories.

I dunno this song just hits ❤

I will say that Joel is the most genuine passionate creator I've ever seen on any media platform. He dedicated himself to making little comedy sketches consistently for YEARS and I remember when he had an astonishingly low amount of subs and every single video they'd be comments saying "HOW has this guy not been picked up by YouTubes algorithm yet" and you could just tell that Joel didn't worry himself about that. And now that he HAS the subs, it hasn't pigeonholed him into doing sketches forever. He's expanded into other areas which he's now passionate about and it is amazing
