Morrissey’s lyrics hit different from other songwriters. The Smiths’ frontman is known for being wildly intellectual, miderable, and funny, all at the same time. Today we’re looking at his lyrics and why they stand out.

My favorite funny Morrisey line (well, verse) is:
What she asked of me at the end of the day
Caligula would have blushed
"Oh, you've been in the house too long," she said
And I naturally fled

And this is why I love The Smiths/Morrissey. The hell with the guy, but the poetic wax ; ) is class; now, today, tomorrow, and always.

Always loved the Smiths! Thanks Andy, for an interesting video. Now I’m going to have to get that book! Yes, Morrissey is pretty funny. So is Randy Newman…. But if a ten ton truck, kills the both of us, to die by your side, well the pleasure, the privilege is mine….

I didn’t understand the humor back in the day but now I laugh out loud. I thought he was dead serious because everyone was in the 80s.
