SLAYER return, GUNS N’ ROSES intrigue, MARILYN MANSON, THE RAVEN AGE interview & more | Metal News

Slayer return on stage with the first show in 5 years… yet their Louder Than Life Festival appearance gets cancelled to due severe weather problems. Meanwhile Guns N’ Roses intrigue and are clearly getting ready to release new music… this time really new music.

Primal Fear open a new chapter of the band and announce their new album Domination which will be out in 2025, while The Halo Effect promise us something new even sooner with their second album March of the Unheard.

I invite The Raven Age for an interview to talk about how touring with Iron Maiden effected them in celebration of Iron Maiden’s Run For Your Lives Tour announcement, since The Raven Age will support Iron Maiden once again next year. And meanwhile, Marilyn Manson, The Black Dahlia Murder, Richie Kotzen, Linkin Park and Brothers of Metal all release new material. Heavy Metal is alive and well, so let’s see what keeps it going today! Here you go!

    Slayer well half of slayer can still bring it,gnr still sound good but axl could be better but still not bad considering the abuse he put his voice through I'd go see both bands again

    Ukraine was the most corrupt nation in Europe with a severe Nazi infestation before the conflict, which they provoked after breaking peace deals. They didn't suddenly change after they got the conflict they wanted, and received. America First, foreign nations much later.

    Not one single song comes to mind when i think of the raven age. I am a maiden fan, seen them open often, nothing stuck. Its like keanu reeves beeing in that band. Oh well. …..edit as unimportant as this comment. …deep stuff xD

    In 1987, there was a WASP tour with special guests Raven and Saxon. Then Saxon would be replaced by Slayer in New York. The tour started in Providence, Rhode Island. Saxon couldn't play because Biff Byford couldn't get a working visa so Slayer had to play there and so , it was assumed that Slayer were going to play in Boston, where I was. I already had my ticket because I liked Raven and Saxon. So, Slayer replacing Saxon sweetened the experience. My then best friend, who wasn't interested in going, got a ticket. We got to the venue that night and suddenly 20 minutes in, word passed down the line that Slayer were in the middle of a sound check when their tour manager came in and told the band to stop playing because Byford got his visa.
    A riot almost broke out. My best friend was wicked pissed, the people in the line were chanting, "Saxon suck". Inside the venue, Saxon got booed. It was crazy. We ended up not seeing Slayer until 1988, the following year. We went to Providence first, then, the next night, we saw them in Boston.

    I was there in the parking lot waiting to go see slayer at LTL but unfortunately the remnants of hurricane helene came through and changed all of that…big time bummer😫 I did see where Kerry King hung out at a local bar so that was cool of him! On a bright note, The festival honored our Friday ticket for Sunday and I saw Rob and the boys put on one hell of a show! Priest killed it!🤘

    The whole guns n' roses thing just makes me very sad.
    They were my absolute favorite band and it's just all went horribly wrong.
    Years were just completely wasted and lost.
    I find it so upsetting.

    I'm just thankful we got what we got because what we got was pretty damn special.

    I'm just always going to wonder what if…
    Look up bands like the rolling Stones that have had so many ups and downs and so much great music, Metallica kept it going and you might not love every album but if you look over their career they really given us an incredible amount of amazing music.
    I for one have loved the last three albums.

    The best years are gone with Axl's voice and it's just a goddamn shame.

    At one point I just had to face it and mourn the loss of my favorite band.

    I saw Slayer 3 x before they retired. I was okay with them retiring. I am going to see Testament, Kreator, and Possessed tomorrow. To me it seems as if Slayer only returned to make the absolute maximum they could a few times a year. They are a great band. I am moving on and seeing some of the bands I always wanted to see when I was growing up. I'm not going to count Slayer out of them. However, I will see Exodus before I see them at some 200 band mega show.

    Slayer called it quits way too early. They still had several years of life left in them and at least 2 or 3 more albums and tours.

    Saw them in Melbourne Australia back 2014/15..

    I am gutted that Slayer didn't perform at Louder than Life. A stupid hurricane in landlocked Kentucky! WTH! I understand, but damnit. And to make it worse, they announced the 'all clear' so my son and I drove 2 hours (really fast) to get there. Literally as we were paying $40 to park, they cancelled the event! I'm slayed! (Get it?) They had a hold over Till Lindemann showing the next day to make up for it, but still… f'ing Slayer!

    I was one of the unlucky Louder Than Life fans on Friday 9/27/24. I flew into Louisville specifically to see ANTHRAX & SLAYER from Washington. Disappointed but not angry at anyone because of Hurricane Helene's dangerous wrath.

    Unfortunately, Slayers ‘set lists have been dull and pretty much the same old same old for the last 20+ years. All you’re gonna hear is the “best of”. A few years ago, they said they were gonna do a old-school set list they threw in maybe three old school songs and the rest was the same old BS not interested at all. Only thing that would get me interested in seeing them again as if Dave was behind the kit.
