Buying beer as an '80s teen was different. More than once, I just sort of demanded they sell it to me even though I was underage and had no ID, not even a fake one. Another time, my prematurely hirsute friend dressed as a priest–black suit, cardboard collar, 5 o'clock shadow–and they sold him a keg. He was 16.

I'm just here to point out that the Bowie thing was factually incorrect. Bowie said he was gay in a magazine interview in 1972. He was actually bi (and ended up in a long-term relationship with a woman) but just liked to take things to extremes in terms of image.

Maybe the team they have is the best the school has available. Not every district can field a superstar sports team. I can't help but pity some of the teams I've played against, and I'm not even that great at basketball myself.
