The Rip Scene That Went Too Far On Yellowstone

Looper | February 26, 2026

The Paramount Network’s “Yellowstone” was some of the most-watched TV of 2021, and there’s so much more to come. With one spin-off underway and another in the queue, “Yellowstone” is showing no signs of slowing down. Taylor Sheridan’s Western drama is all about the owners of the largest ranch in Montana, the Duttons, and the people who make the ranch run, like Rip Wheeler, the ranch foreman. A rugged anti-hero type, Wheeler acts as an enforcer for John Dutton, the clan’s patriarch, which means he gets into his share of trouble. This is the Rip scene that went too far on “Yellowstone.”

You know the line Rip always uses, You wanna fight, come find me, I'll fight you all goddamn day! Rip is not great at fighting, just throwing others around. Notice how the scene where Rip and Kayce were in the Corral fist fighting, with everybody watching, Rip didn't last too long with somebody who hit him back. And God only knows how he found Beth attractive. She will be the one that gets him killed, she's a used woman, good thing she was sterilized at a young age, imagine her bitchy ass reproducing future inmates.

Love the show but lets face it, they are a bunch of sociopathic narcissistic killers. they all deserve to be in Jail, every last one of them, if not the death penalty. If this was based on real life, we would all want to see them get the justice they deserve. I would've loved to see Beth and Jamie bury the hatchet but if not, I wanted to see Jamie put a bullet in her head. As much as I love the Character of Beth, i also hated her, she was worse than everyone else on the show and if anyone deserved to be killed, it was most definitely her.

All you Rip simps have no clue how shit like this goes down in real life. I can guarantee the people in here singing Rip's praises ain't worked a blue collar day in their life…ranching or otherwise. They wanna feel vicariously tough…this shit is cringe…

The notion that Rip and Lloyd could have simply "pretended they didn't see Walker" in Dillon, is predicated on the idea that they somehow know that Walker wasn't interested in telling anyone about what he saw. As much as I think Rip should have just let Walker leave early on when he approached Rip at the Ranch Manager's house to say that he wouldn't break the law for him, he didn't. Instead he forced Walker to stay, and then Walker eventually had seen things that they would have to worry about. Once they decided to take Walker to the train station, Walker either needed to be taken out, or kept on the ranch. I know that Kayce is technically more or less Rip's boss, or potential future boss, which makes for a less than symmetrical dynamic between them, but I think Rib was justified to be more angry than he was with Kayce. Kayce betrayed the trust of those that wore the brand…and in a sense, wore that brand to protect Kayce.

That was not too far. John dutton had rip give multiple chances to let it go, and just focus on the work . Lloyd couldn't do that though. I think part of breaking his hand was mainly to make sure he would not start another fight any time soon

For me I saw it as Lloyd defending what he felt was the honor of the brand. Remember Walker took it willingly before he did anything, so he kinda knew what was to come compared to Jimmy.

At first , I loved the show but am going off it with these plots as there not that fun to watch a grown man beat an old man who is his friend. Not my idea of " right " !
