Nice review of a very interesting late stage "Yes" album.
At times the authenticity of the instrumentation and technical competence is stunning, which sadly only magnifies the slight failings. The Gates of Delirium was an obvious problem moment, and I was terribly disappointed in their version of Awaken, which still has no definitive version as far as I have been able to determine. Having said that, no official version of Yes or the various spin offs have managed to nail either of those pieces, and the closest I've heard to any kind of perfection on either track is the Todmobile version of Awaken, with the orchestra and choir.
Also, a word about Jon Anderson's voice. It's still VERY good, especially considering his age and former health problems, BUT it is showing signs of ageing, leading to some tremulous moments. They don't spoil anything, but they are there.
Great video. So nice to see the album getting the attention it deserves.

Thanks for reviewing. I didnโ€™t realize that Jon Anderson and the Band Geeks had a live album out. I attended the show at Arcadia theater in St. Charles in 2023 and it was a great show. I have seen Jon Anderson at the same theater doing a solo acoustic concert of Yes and solo work about 10 years ago that was quite good. Since the theater only seats about 900 people it was like having Jon in your living room giving a concert to some of his friends. Also saw him there for his 1000 Hands tour which was quite good.
The Band Geek show reminded me of the Yes Masterworks tour back in 2000 at the taste of Chicago where Anderson, Howe, Squire, White, Sherwood and Khoroshev played Close to the Edge, Starship Trooper, Gates of Delirium, Heart of the Sunrise, Ritual, Iโ€™ve Seen All Good People and Roundabout. I agree instead of All Good People I wish they had played (in either show) a deep cut like South Side of the Sky, Sound Chaser or To Be Over.
Even though I have many live Yes albums I plan on ordering this one too.

I saw their tour last September and was blown away. The only bummer about this live release is that it was recorded before the release of their studio album, which is absolutely phenomenal. Wouldโ€™ve liked to have had some of those songs live on CD.

I was thinking of buying the vinyl, but I have lots of Yes vinyl with these songs. So I picked the Bluray. I put the disc in and my Bluray player doesn`t function properly anymore. So now I need a new Bluray player. Great. Maybe I should have just got the vinyl.

We've seen Richie play with BOC, and he is a phenomenal guitarist and musician (and an incredibly nice guy). Will be picking this album up, thanks so much for the review, I would have missed it otherwise!

Their 'True' album is the best Yes album since 90125. They really are that good. And since they're that good I looked up who the Band Geeks were and holy cow! The guy who's basically the leader of the Band Geeks is the number 3 guy in Blue Oyster Cult. Who coincidently had contributed to recording their best album in 35+ years.

Richie Castellano with Blue Oyster Cult and now Jon Anderson. Will Evankovich with Styx. I'm starting to see a way for young guns to get recognized, giving classic rock bands a new lease on life. They're doing with these bands just as Jeff Lynne did with George Harrison and Roy Orbison's career, back in the day. But ya, thanks to youtube, I noticed Jon Anderson and the Band Geeks doing Yes songs. Thanks to that I discovered "True." Thank you Youtube.

I took a week off from work in 2023 to travel to three shows on this tour, including the two recorded for this album. They were among the best shows I've attended in almost five decades of going to concerts. I echo everything Pete said here, these are great performances of these songs. One thing which no recording can adequately capture is the moment near the end of Awaken when the bass synth kicks in. That literally shook the building when it happened, and was almost spiritual to experience in person. I'm going to see Jon and the Band Geeks again in July, really looking forward to that show!
