For many metal fans, Extreme Metal is heavy metal. Death, Morbid Angel, Carcass, Entombed, Darkthrone, Dimmu Borgir, Opeth, guttural vocals, blast beats, lyrics about death and the occult …. we couldn’t tell the story of metal without it. And so Banger Films presents Extreme Metal, the latest chapter in Metal Evolution, the biggest-ever TV series on the history of heavy metal and hard rock. Hosted by Sam Dunn and based on Banger’s groundbreaking “Heavy Metal Family Tree”, Extreme Metal features new interviews with Death Metal, Grindcore and Black Metal’s most influential sonic architects and a global journey from Tampa to the UK, Norway and France’s Hellfest to investigate the history, myths and intricacies of this most innovative and transgressive subgenre. How extreme is it? Too extreme for some TV networks! Which is why Banger Films turned to crowdfunding—it was support from the metal community around the world through an IndieGogo campaign which made Metal Evolution: Extreme Metal a reality.

And this is the point in the evolution where the form degrades and becomes devolved. This is where metal becomes theatre kid music where guys sing in their "angry voice" and the guitarists play their "heavy riffs." All trash.

Metal is Metal. Breaking it down into dozens of categories and sub categories is some msm b.s.. Getting labeled and put in a category is one of the reasons we have all this angst

Every new innovative style was extreme when they first appeared. Black Sabbath was extreme at the time. Even the Beatles and Elvis were considered extreme back in the day.

Looking back, metal bands Primas and Possessed as well as Green Day members all came out of my high school in the 80’s. I remember LaLonde pimping out his Possessed demo’s and Sweet Children aka Green Day playing at our yearly foreign foods festival in the quad. What a great 4 years.

No matter what type of extreme metal it is, they have the same base: THEY SOUND LIKE SHIT.
Too fast, too agressive, too hard. It kills melodicy in most cases. It may be complex, but if it sounds bad, wtf is even the point?
They talk like elitist gate keepers, but in truth, what is great about it? It's very hard to wipe your ass with your feet, VERY TECHNICAL, but it's still idiotic.
And worst part, the vocals. They make a pig sound like Michael Jackson when compared. It's that bad.
People that listen to this don't care about music or melody, beauty, emotion.
And I don't want to talk about the satanist. Anybody making sacrifices, burning churches, etc, is just a retard with no place in society.

As for the birth of extreme metal, it’s quite simple. There was no such thing as extreme metal. Then there was Napalm Death. All the ingredients were right there from the start, and they were a quantum leap above any other band in terms of extremity, aggression and heaviness

One thing is dissapointed. Even here no one takes a look on the Invention of the death or black metal singing style. Where does this Growling, Grunting, Screaming Style come from and who invented it? Does that person already had this sick voice or has that been a singing Technique the hole time? Holy shit
