Maybe this started out as β€œprestige project” where they knew they would lose a little $$$ but it was good for their brand? Obviously things got out of control… just a thought

How do companies that actually execute on complex, interdisciplinary engineered-to-order projects in a multi-project, multi-niche organization do it?

I work at an electronics manufacturer that builds complex systems for subsurface exploration, and I just had a senior eng lead explain to me that agile principles cannot work because it’s not a simple SaaS app like twitter.

Lol typical Boeing, just the same as their NASA contracts, years late and billions over budget, I don't know about the US needs Boeing, more like the US can't afford Boeing as they stand, the company needs to be broken into three separate and stand alone companies, military, space and commercial, perhaps then where all the money is being misspent or siphoned off to for other projects.

Well what does one expect doing business with a convicted felon.
So ironic that Boeing lost money on a building a planes for a President who lost them billions with his policies that force their customers to buy non US.

Given the history and difficulties with building the VC 25 A Boeing should never gotten involved with the new aircraft, and agreeing to a fixed contract was corporate stupidity.

    0:23 that's technically incorrect.

Technically US Air Force One is only any USAF aircraft the sitting President is on.

If they're on an aircraft run by another branch of the military it would not be Air Force One (e.g. when the president takes the Marine One helicopter).

Either Boeing management were stupid or arrogant. The US president and military possibly a bully. Boeing should have sold them a plane and let the military modify it at their expense. Or fund the whole development themselves for security and cost savings. Gov had access to the technology, technical skills and man power. Just bad management. Ever heard of a rolling chassis? For a custom build? Tits.

They are intentionally not focused on finishing building the plane because it loses them money so they drag out the cost over multiple years. At this rate dont expect it to be ready for another decade. The delay is intentional

@0:24Technically any AIR FORCE aircraft that is used by the President is Air Force One, whether that is a aeroplane, a helicopter or a blimp. If the President flies on a Navy aircraft, then that is Navy One. And that is why the helicopters that the President flies on are usually Marine One, because they are supplied by the Marines.

Boeing has forgotten how to make stuff for a budget. They prefer cost plus and the sunken cost fallacy, but they forgot that the then President was a businessman and can spot a rip off a mile away. Boeing products are ALWAYS late and overbudget, just like Lockheed Martin.

I don't understand this short-sightedness from Boeing πŸ€” The thought of a US president flying around on an Airbus is unthinkable. It was always going to be a Boeing aircraft that would be chosen for Air Force One. Losing 3 billion here? That makes zero sense and should tell you the kind of people that are running Boeing right now

Not surprised. I visit a news bulletin board, that has former, laid-off Boeing employees, Boeing prides itself on implementing DEI for it's employees. In a cost cutting measure many of the old guard employees were let go. So this is where we are today. Boeing is not the same company that it was 20 years, only in name only.

Most famous and important to Americans the other 7.7 billion of us don’t give a shit about America πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ when are you people gonna realise you’re not that important

It’s an interesting cultural difference between Britain and America that the President flys on Air Force 1 and the Prime Minister receives criticism for flying first class on taxpayer money.

Weird Boeing never messes up with Air Force One but cant seem to fix those commercial passenger jets and their higher/middle ranked employees, who worked on these passenger planes, have " accidents" πŸ˜…

I worked for the DoD in the late 80's, and I was one of the government engineers that helped Boeing EMP test the AF1 communication suite. The Boeing engineers I was around with were great to work with. One of my best job experiences. I still remember and used that tiny oscope on one of the racks, I always look for it in video's and it's still there.
