I lived in Mount Airy NC and as you know it's the location of Mayberry. My father in law lived next door to Andy when he lived on Corner St. You can still go to Snappy Lunch, Floyd's Barber Shop, you can even take a ride in Andy's cop car and visit other places that are mentioned in the program. We now have a Andy Griffith Theater. My father in law was Grover Dobson who was n named Goob in the army. That's where the name Goob came from. Mt. Pilot is a real place. It's actually Pilot Mountain. It's a nice little town. Everyone who were involved are now gone and once I'm gone I'm afraid the truths I know, will be gone.

One of my biggest regrets is that I never sent Don Knotts a letter telling him how wonderful I thought he was. His Barnie Fife was genius, and my siblings and I loved his movies: "The Incredible Mr. Limpet" and "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken." It makes me so happy that he was recognized, multiple times by his peers, for his work on "The Andy Griffith Show."

This isn't the first time a retrospective of this show got me in the feels. It harkens me back to when I was a younger man, when all the ones I loved were still living. Including Andy & Barney.

This show saves my sanity as I watch it with a loved one who doesn't remember much these days. We both laugh and feel safe and comfortable again. I can't even put into words how much it's helped over these heart-wrenching years.

I watched Andy Griffith show All my life. I bought the whole DVD Series , and still watching it at an elderly age. I love ALL the characters, Andy and Opie were my favorite as a team, I guess, but All the characters made the show. ❤

I think YOU do not know the mechanics of firearms! The cylinders of some revolvers rotate in opposite directions. Barney did not necessarily put the cartridge in the chamber directly under the hammer.

Sorry buy Mayberry RFD was terrible or worse ….. took way too long to end and should have never been on. I love everything about the Andy Griffith show though … was great.

I'd hang out with The Darlings and sing bluegrass all day. Maybe sneak a kiss from Charleene, before her getting betrothed to Dud, of course. Got my love of bluegrass from The Dillards. Dooley, slipping up the hollar…

Thought you might include the odd fact that – (if I'm not mistaken) in an early episode Andy and Barney were cousins. But then it was never mentioned again.

I have vacationed in Chincoteague, VA about three times and l tell folks it is my modern day Mayberry. It's about a three by seven mile island with a speed limit of 25 mph and ducks have the right-of-way. I can totally see how watching the show would bring a person back to sanity.
